Pétrus
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
A gorgeous supple soft nose with cherry and plum and violets in the nose. A lush silky midpalate with precise and not too punchy fruit. Exceptional

Mar 13th, 2024Gorgeous. Black cherry and plum with a soft rounded and very polished middle. Roses and a mellow depth. Very lucid and pure and long. Really gorgeous stuff.

Feb 23rd, 2024Dark scarlet color. Almost opaque. Has an old Latour like nose from the get go. Notes of dark fruit, mocha, unsweetened chocolate, and dark earth. Powerful with a massive core of fruit in the mouth. Really great experience, paired perfectly with lamb chops.

Dec 10th, 2022Drank this wine with 8 wines that night including 34 Latour, 61 Margaux, etc and best bottle of the night! I knew a long time ago 70 Petrus was magical and this bottle didn't disappoint and hence price and wine gets higher and better still more years ahead. Pure Petrus! If you had to taste one vintage of Petrus to know what the fuzz is all about...this is as good as it gets!

Jun 9th, 2015what an extraordinary wine. Still youthful, complex, robust, with a finish that goes on and on.

Dec 21st, 2014This 1970 is actually improving in the bottle...shocker as I have had this vintage 4 times and it just gets better! Prices are now double 10 years ago.

Jul 25th, 2013So.... Starting the New Year with one of my most coveted wines, one that was on my wishlist for a while.
Unfortunately for me, this 51 year old did not deliver. Oxidized. This was not the experience I expected. Well, that happens...
Tastes more like a dry Sherry. Loved the nose though.
Beautiful sweet nose of blueberries, cherries, oak, bread, figs, cooked raisins, vanilla, spice box and black coffee. Smells like a port.
Tangy and vinegary on the palate.
Still a nice experience.
Cheers to better ones.

Tasted blind. It was evident that this was mature Bordeaux at its finest quality level from an excellent vintage. The absence of brettanyomces and a right bank aroma profile pointed towards Lafleur or Petrus. Deliciously ripe and dried red fruits mingle with black truffle, cocoa powder, forest floor and cigar box. Gently caressing the palate, the 1970 Château Petrus delivers a full-body, velvety tannins, a core of dried red fruits and a long, lingering finish. Probably slightly past it's peak, but still spectacular. Drink now.
