Brut Grand Reserve Champagne Blend

I had never really heard too much about Meunier grapes adding to my champagne, and this beauty hit all the spots. Fresh, consumable, and light. — a year ago

Domaine Drouhin

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2017

Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2017: Medium-bodied. Bright red fruits on the nose and strawberry, raspberry, cherry & plum on the palate. Additionally, there is a light touch of forest floor, earthiness ending with a soft dry finish. Glad to be back supporting & enjoying some local outdoor dinner spots! Cheers🍷 — 3 years ago

Clos la Gaffelière

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. The second wine of Château La Gaffelière, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, from vines on the lower part of the southern hills of the estate and young vines from the better spots. Aged in 1 year old barriques, no new wood. This has real understated class. The nose is still a bit shy, give it time to open up. Cassis, flowers and a subtle hint of truffle. Nicely concentrated, but gently extracted, this is all about finesse and elegance. It has impeccable balance, nice complexity and good length. This is not a showy wine, but a very classic gentleman. Lovely value at 20 euros. Abv. 14%. — 4 years ago

Viña Progreso

Viognier 2019

This wine is electric! From the first waft on the nose to the splash on the palate, this wine is one of those I like to call “shiny.” It makes the insides of your nostrils tingle, the acid glands in the soft spots in the cheeks of your mouth sing, and the tips of your ears dance. It feels and smells irony like wet copper pennies and the texture is sheer as fine crystal. Bright fresh lemons yet some butterscotch warmth detected on the nose. High citric acid lights up the mouth with liquid lightening. Open for summer in your glass! — 4 years ago

Château Moulin de Tricot

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016, so, young and wound up. Nose of live cypress, fresh dug hole along a wood, pine one, cherrywood, pressed raspberry; barely broken. Raisin rolls, chanterelle, rose stem. Rocky, with a silken red liquid rose petal moment that turned chewy round tannin and lush burst of plum. A solid nod to graphite immersed in raspberry tartness, red currant and slightest cinnamon and slighter peppercorn. Green in spots but there architecturally.

Eva Fricke

Rheingau Trocken Riesling 2018

Vibrant and well structured, this house Riesling from Rheingau producer Eva Fricke is a complex, dry and impressive wine with searing acidity and satisfying length. It hits many of the varietal spots, including wet stone, crunchy apple, fresh lime and a hint of petrol, all cut alongside a very linear profile, and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel that has excellent harmony. For an entry-level wine, this is very good. I can’t wait to try her village and single-vineyard bottlings. — 3 years ago

Château Villemaurine

St. Émilion Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Tasted a month ago and same notes still hold true. Muscular in spots and pretty in others. Overall, clocks in as a well-made, interesting effort that should be at/near its best in approx 12-15 years. — 3 years ago

Samuel Smith Old Brewery

Imperial Stout Beer

Black with burnt umber highlights. Low and creamy head springs with bubbles combining to undercut its great form. Fireworks lacing slow falls to leopard spots. Espresso and baker’s chocolate nose boasts licorice and chicory, campfire notes and vanilla. Palate shows none of the sweet elements of the nose initially. Instead, pipe tobacco and unsweetened bitter chocolate, the chicory and burnt toast prevail; a burnt tips taste lingering. Baked pecan, dark caramel, black pepper, and ethiopean coffee, with black chewing tobacco and vanilla bean complete the circuit. Power and restraint, in this lovely offering. This really did set the standard. #samuelsmiths #samuelsmitholdbrewery #tadcaster #NYorks #imperialstout #stout #englishstout #beer #classicbeer #bier #biere #birra #cerveza #cerveja #britbeer #britannia #ukberr #ukstout #britishbeer #britishstout — 3 years ago
