2020 vintage. A single 20 hectares vineyard within the Léoville-Poyferré estate. The name was used for the second wine Léoville-Poyferré, but it became a Saint-Julien in its own right in 2009. The 20 hectares vineyard is planted with an unusually high percentage of Petit Verdot. This 2020 is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 23% Petit Verdot. — 7 months ago
Light rubi robe, like an old Barolo. Intoxicating and sweet aromas of plums, spices, tobacco and secondary and tertiary aromas. Wine is dry and light on its feet, complex, decadent. Lacks a bit of density and length in the finish. I imagine this was stunning at its prime. This bottle was high shoulder so perhaps a better conserved bottle will show more. Fantastic 48 years old that is fully mature but holds pretty well after 1 hour we opened. Reminder of how great California Cab can be. — a year ago
This is the 2019 Chateau Montrose La Dame de Montrose. Saint-Estèphe Gironde, France Bordeaux. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, perfume rose petals, green bell pepper, spice, vanilla and earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, herbaceous, green bell pepper, licorice, black pepper and a real dark earth edge.
This wine is beautifully full bodied with medium + to high but not overbearing acidity and medium + sinewy muscular firm tannins that nicely move into a long black fruit rich earthy finish. This can definitely be a top line Bordeaux. I hope everyone is well. This weekend looks to be a good one. Drink something special with someone special. Stay safe and healthy. Assume that’s the vineyard in the inked drawing on the label. Fancy stuff at $48 per bottle…
Lovely deep red to purple color. Smells like musk, woods, campfire on your clothes. Maybe a cranberry or elderberry tone under it all. Interesting smell to it for sure. Flavors are also interesting. Old time tonics and herbal extractions. More elderberry stuff. Absinthe. Or is that Jegermister? The fruit is there too, but it’s under the savory and strange stuff. This is a wine to age. But it’s good now too if you are into the strange and earthy side of Syrah. A true terroir driven drinking experience. I can see the coast valleys of Mendo in the flavors. — 2 years ago
Ruby with complex fruit aromas, spice and oak. Blend of 89% Tempranillo & 11% Graciano, aged 48 months on American oak. On the palate flavors of jammy dark berry fruits with spice & smoky earthy notes on ripe full soft tannins. Long finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with fruit, oak, cigar box spice and mineral earthy tones, a joy to Sip this Fine Wine!! Tasting great, has more aging potential! — a year ago
A very pretty color of light ruby with light intensity, and a wide reddish/brick rim.
Strong nose of bing cherries, cooked plums, light oak, spices, tobacco, chocolates and light raisins.
Light to medium in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco and black pepper.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very nice Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Tangy and interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and easy drinking. A good sipping wine. Good by itself or with food.
This 2-year-old, is already showing nice complexity, which is always nice to see.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
Unfiltered and unfined.
12.9% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Very good - faint pink hue and bright yet complex, 48 months on lees here really does a trick. 2016 Base Disg. July 2021 — 4 months ago
