Azienda Agricola Le Ragnaie

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Delicate but not dainty, pretty, sexy with musky undertones. Perfumed. Black cherry, red currants, dried orange potpourri, clove, sassafras (in the alcohol), fruit leather, thyme. Barbaresco-esque, loads of dried florals and potpourri, high acid but not with the young Nebb astringency. Shroom and sous bois comes with last pour of course. Enjoyed with a 30-day aged ribeye and side of: chanterelle, shiitake mushrooms. Not your typical Suckling Brunello. — 6 years ago

Prairie Artisan Ales

Bomb! Imperial Stout

Hard poured this inky octopus to a pattern-bald, latte-afro pate with dancing nematode swirls in space riffs. Sticky cellulite ‘lacing’ painting the glass with stain-stars. Black. Burnt baklava aromas, maple char, black chocolates with windowsill mint, malty dark caramel, baked aromas. Coffee and resinous chocolate, baked maple syrup, poppy torts, rye bread with dark caramel, baked chocolate with ganache for a sleepover, Thai coffee reduction, treacle, a sweet black pepper and sassafras and dark rum sprouting fresh vanilla bean. Intensely variegated, layered, concentrated. The Dagwood of imperial stouts. Piled 6 feet high, enjoy with a friend, horizontally. .

Estate Grown Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2018

We had the 2018 Vintage on 10/6-7/23. Black cherry and blackberry on the bouquet. Same flavors on the palate. The most striking feature is the velvety mouthfeel. Smooth texture, fruit forward, but still medium bodied. One of the better wines from Moshin. What this did not have is the sassafras and cola tastes. — 3 years ago

Jacques Maillet

Autrement Vin de Savoie

Sadly Jacques’s last vintage. Mondeuse, Gamay, Pinot. Beautifully natural, vibrant, supple. Brambly, black cherry, raspberry pepper, forest fruits, alpine strawberries, bright, concentrated, glugable, but nice tertiary notes of sweet tobacco, sassafras, sous bois. Very pretty and feminine. Could cozy up to this every day. 12.3% — 6 years ago

Lot 4 Selection Pinot Noir 2017

We had the 2017 Vintage on 11/11-12/23. This is a real good PN with tastes of black cherry, rhubarb, vanilla, cinnamon and baking spice. Well balanced and a smooth mouthfeel. Very good. Would buy more. Other similar wines had more sassafras and cola. Not so much here — 3 years ago

Domaine Drouhin

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2017

Monday night and winter is tearing through our area. I have tonight opened the 2017 Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir.

On the nose I am getting aromas of cherry, raspberry, cranberry, mushroom, spice and earth.

On the palate there is tart cherey, raspberry, cranberry, sassafras, spice and forest floor.

This wine is medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + sandy tannins which leaves a long red & dark fruit finish. Having had the Joseph Drouhin the other night and the Domaine Drouhin tonight the Joseph Drouhin was just more elegant over all. I hope everyone's Valentine weekend was good. Have a great week, stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Evening Land Vineyards

Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2012

Tonight I have opened the 2012 Evening Land Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir. It has been five years since the last time I had this wine, so here goes.

On the nose there is strawberry, cherry, raspberry, clove, rhubarb, vanilla, black olive, rose petals, light oak and earth.

On the palate there is strawberry, tart cherry, raspberry, sassafras, clove, vanilla, mushroom, rose petals, rhubarb and earth.

This wine is medium bodied and is as fresh today as it was when I had it five years ago. It has medium to medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that lead seamlessly into a medium to long tart fruit finish. Still a wonderful wine and I don't see this slowing down any. I have a few more in my wine room and I look forward to trying this again a few years from now. I hope everyone is still doing well? Now that they are starting to relax on the stay home policies please stay healthy and stay safe. Nostrovia! Q🍷🍷🍷🍷
