Evening Land Vineyards
Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir
Tonight I have opened the 2012 Evening Land Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir. It has been five years since the last time I had this wine, so here goes.
On the nose there is strawberry, cherry, raspberry, clove, rhubarb, vanilla, black olive, rose petals, light oak and earth.
On the palate there is strawberry, tart cherry, raspberry, sassafras, clove, vanilla, mushroom, rose petals, rhubarb and earth.
This wine is medium bodied and is as fresh today as it was when I had it five years ago. It has medium to medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that lead seamlessly into a medium to long tart fruit finish. Still a wonderful wine and I don't see this slowing down any. I have a few more in my wine room and I look forward to trying this again a few years from now. I hope everyone is still doing well? Now that they are starting to relax on the stay home policies please stay healthy and stay safe. Nostrovia! Q🍷🍷🍷🍷

Tonight I opened another 2012 Evening Land Pinot Noir from the Eola-Amity Hills Willamette Valley. Evening Land seems to be doing things right here in the Willamette Valley. On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, sassafras, light mint and an earthy loam. The palate gives up notes of strawberry, red raspberry, sour cherry, rhubarb, and mushroom. This is a full bodied Pinot with Medium Acidity and Medium Tannin with a nice fresh finish.

Jun 8th, 2017Bright ripe but sour cherries, cooked strawberries, dark raspberries, pomegranate extract, dark moist earth, round minerality. Big rich fruit finish. Good vintage to hold another 3-6 years more before opening depending on how ageable you enjoy your wine.

Aug 1st, 2015Nice bright red fruit, very silky and balanced. Amazing bouquet that continues to unfold as the night progresses. Beautiful expression of terroir.

I agree with a comment I saw that this straddles old and new world. It is full and fruity, but carries spice and a bit of bramble. I can see why this was so highly rated. I am not ready to give this the 96 that WS gave it, but it is so much better than most US Pinot.

Jul 16th, 2017This property has had its ups and downs of late. 2012 is great. 2013, not so much. This 2012 is terrific. It has an amazing color that looks like dark rubies in the glass. It makes you expect a lot -- and it delivers. Black cherry and currant on the nose. Plum and pepper. In the mouth it's full and rich with the same deep dark fruit expressions and a long, lingering finish. Silky integrated tannins. I love this now but it has legs for some more years in the cellar. Hard to find now but worth it!
