Eola Amity Hills, Willamette Valley

Estate Reserve Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2016

Smells like cherry cigarette ashes. But I like the rugged flavor. It’ll put a beard on ya. Earthy and cloudy and light smokiness. — 16 hours ago

Powerful, a lot in reserve. Think this needs more bottle age — 7 days ago

Owen Roe

Sojourner Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Very exceptional effort from Owen Roe, with some bottle age. Warm compote and brown sugar with mild acidity make this a nice sipping wine with dinner. — 13 days ago

La Chenaie Vineyard Tempranillo 2014

Retasting eight months later, my last bottle. Ruby red, very good clarity. Black currant and red berry fruit leather notes in nose. Blackberry and cherry flavors initially. Mild skin astringency in finish, with white pepper emerging after 15 minutes. Black currant, plum, mint and a touch of cola and earthiness emerge an hour after opening. Complex flavor profile. Chewy tannins too emerge, so best decant a couple of hours. A little more acidic brightness wouldn’t hurt though. Maybe Tempranillo can be a Pacific Northwest thing... — 22 days ago

Bethel Heights

Estate Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2016

Straightforward but delicious and a phenomenal value. Dark cherries, plums, baking spices, and black tea. Some decent tannins on this young Pinot, but the freshness is excellent on the finish. — 14 days ago

Estate Eola-Amity Hills Syrah 2015

Syrah from Oregon is a bit of a novelty but I think they crush it with this one. 14%. 💦 — 15 hours ago
