Martinelli family has been farming in Sonoma County since 1860. Deep Ruby color with aromas of red berry fruit and sweet spices. On the palate ripe cherry and blueberry flavors, with some dried fruit notes, oak, cinnamon spice and cola tones. Fine mouth coating tannins with balanced acidity carry this rich wine to a long finish. Good now will age a bit! — 6 months ago
A Benjamin Button wine. When I opened it last night, it initially was quite disappointing. Old, browning color, nose showing little fruit and mostly dried underbrush. But it began to perk up with an hour or so of air, so I saved the rest for tonight. And it’s pretty nice tonight! Strangely, the color has gotten more youthful looking. The nose shows dark macerated cherry with a significant iron note to the earthiness. A lifted menthol/ camphor thing. In the mouth, it’s got a nice freshness, and hits more like a Chianti Classico Riserva from Castelnuovo Berardenga than a typical Brunello. Dark cherry and lots of savory minerality. A little, nice bitter note in the close. Not super deep or lengthy, but a tasty wine nonetheless. Be sure to decant and give this wine lots of air. — 8 months ago
Considered the star of the CdA lineup, and similar to their chiantis which all have some Merlot blended in, but this was too much Merlot for me - had that plasticity I don’t love — 2 months ago
Don’t see it as often as I’d like, but I almost always pick up a Greco and always enjoy it! Florals florals florals, fresh garden, wet stones, orchard fruit - quite complex and this is best at cellar temp. Silky sensuous on palate, gorgeous body w/nice heft & balanced integrated acidity. Really strutted thru finish. Would like to revisit in 5 yrs — 7 months ago
Prachtig in evenwicht met nog een paar jaar word deze wijn nog mooier. — 2 months ago
2021 vintage. Last tasted a week ago (9.3). Everything I said then + a caviar bump this tasting episode. Unexpected lushness hand in hand with likes to fight guy...er...tannins. Ridiculous juice now. Dunno where it'll land in a 5-spot but guessing it'll be a pretty perfect landing. 7.23.24. — 4 months ago
Enjoying at Stefano’s in Sheboygan WI; seriously worth the drive! This beautiful, delicate and sophisticated wine greets you with cherry and a lovely brick color, that quite honestly smacked me upside the head! Like wow! Don’t be deceived by its lush approachable appearance. This wine is yummy and I think it’s going to be my new go-to! It paired well with a 6meat stuffed pasta in a butter pecan sauce as well as a fresh Alaskan halibut topped with capers and artichoke. Thank Gawd Sheboygan isn’t on everyone’s radar! More for us!! Love this type of wine. Nuanced and elegant, every sip revealing something new while the wine evolves in the glass. Wine making at its best. — 2 months ago
