Insane concentration for a Mosel wine. Has all the slate minerality, complex white and yellow florals, tropical fruit ie guava pineapple; has the signature Steinmetz searing acidity (in a good way) but with a density similar to a Pflaz GG. Spectacular. This is a top wine. @Lyle Fass — 6 months ago
Stunning nose. Just grips you. Huge ripeness. Stone fruits and apricots. Honey. Lychee. So clear and vivid though also has amazing refinement. Slate comes through after 10 minutes in the glass. But these will last for days and days. Lime flesh. Keeps opening and opening. Palate is stunning. So decadent and sappy but with great freshness from the intense minerality. So sappy and pure. Amazing mouthfeel here. Rich and opulent but also has just enough acidity to keep it together and then the minerality propels you across the finish line. This will improve with air. My score will go up.
After 4 hours this is a marvel and a stunner. Nose is more restrained and mineral. Palate has stunning treacly texture and such depth and finishes dry but with opulence. Stunning. But still a 9.6. — 4 years ago
Huge aromas of bee pollen, wild flowers, lemon and lime pith, airy sea air, sultana, and some slate. Fruit is melon, cantaloupe and more. Unreal nose. Palate has just so much energy and an enraging sweetness from ripeness and a skoche of sugar. Extraordinary raciness and concentration and an almost tannic density. So clean and wispy but there is major structure here. Needs air but my god is this delicious. With 5 hours of air this has gotten so elegant and nimble. Just stunning. — 5 months ago
To be specific, this is the Laubenheimer Karthauser Riesling Trocken. Very exuberant nose. Loads of bright, ripe green apple fruit, a little fresh green herb (tarragon?), a yeasty note, and loads of slatey minerals. Very fruity on the palate, round textured, acids are quite soft. Not super complex but very fun. — 3 years ago

It took a few hours to open up, initially it was lacking the minerality and depth I expected but it got there eventually. This is super clean, like it washed down a northern German creek and straight into the bottle clean. Lemony fresh, lime juice, all the citrus in there on the finish. — 5 months ago
