Gorgeous. Intense and lifted. Multi layered. Really fresh with great length. Wow. On the reveal, what happened to Leflaive that their wines show like this at 30 years yet 10 year old grand cru are a premox crapshoot? So disappointing when you see how these age. — 2 years ago
8/21 Just a beautiful 1992 wine that was soft but still had fruit and structure. 92. — 3 years ago
Enjoyed alongside some other Napa legends from the 80’s and 90’s. This was stunning and to my palate, on this night, seemed to show the best of the Napa flight. The 1992 shows classic Dunn Howell with ample dark and red fruits, tobacco, earth, leather and fine baking spices. Stout structure. Everything in beautiful balance. Drink now with unmitigated glee and through 2042 because just like Barry, this has Staying Power. — 2 months ago
1992 vintage. Very, very close to Japanese auction market quality with fill, cork, capsule and label nearly immaculate. Decanted and tasted immediately and over the course of 3 hours. Expected amount of sed. What a ride! Having tasted this back in the day when first released, recalled an unusual (for this property) amount of richness in the frontal palate. Wasn't there initially but rolled in for a cameo approx 45 mins after decant. Then...vanished at the 1 hour open mark. First whiff of the nose was fresh, clay kitty litter. This morphed into graphite after 15-20 mins. Body was surprisingly light early on, then fattened up after 30-40 mins to medium status. Impressions were of a leaner effort, then things got positively jammy with unexpected fruit hither and yon. This remained for approx 1.25 hours, then the entire performance, body included, thinned out with their old-school, estate-expected, aged leather punch combined with dark-skinned fruit, mountain grip and a little touch of grey sea salt. No food involved during the experience. The 1991 Montelena Estate Cab is nearest and dearest but this following vintage was an absolute, palate-bending acid(ity) trip. Looking forward to the next trip...er...show. 11.25.23. — a year ago
Presented to me double-blind at Tasting Group. The wine is a deep garnet color a near opaque core and some significant rim variation; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous and showing some signs of maturity. There are fascinating notes of tart, ripe and dessicated black and red fruits: blackberries, black currants, tart red cherry, accompanied by some tobacco, cigar box, green bell pepper, some leather and beautiful baking spices. It smells like money (expensive, lavish oak treatment). On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins (well integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with some coffee and cocoa also showing up to the party. The finish seems to go on forever. This is a very balanced wine in a very fun spot.
Initial conclusion: this could be a Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, a Tempranillo or Sangiovese-based blend from the United States, France, Spain or Italy with 25+ years of age. However, the fruit was kinda the star of the show so, final conclusion: this is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine from the United States, from California, from Napa; vintage 1990. Ha!! 1992 Bryant Family!? Suhhhhweet! This is in the zone. Drink now through 2032. — 8 months ago
1/2 hour decant (decent chunky/fine sediment). An amazing still dark garnet with decent bricking. On the nose: some dark cherry, old worn leather, sweet mint, smoked meat, potpourri. Taste: soft, creamy, elegant, silky sweet tannins caress the palate with a little dark cherry, damp earth, herbal, and a spiced red plum pencil lead dry finish. A nice example of aged Napa cab. Shared w friends & paired with strong, savory & spicy Jollof rice, braised chicken in coconut milk. Gorgeous copper orange tints; on nose tangerine & pomelo pith, heart of palm with those citrus notes carried into palate; sweet almond paste; silky, enveloping texture too, which makes pairing w spicy food so natural. Just a lovely drinking experience of a 33yro Spätlese — a day ago
