Domaine Jasmin Cuvee Olea Cote-Rotie Syrah Viognier 2015

Lyle Fass

@Delectable Wine new cuvee called “Olea.” This is the best casks of Jasmin’s Côte Rotie. 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier. Nose is a bit closed right now with some wood but it blows off and gets insane in 10/15 minutes. This gets a new barrel treatment with a blend of Hungarian and French oak. But under that is dazzling blackberry, raspberry, even cassis and serious granite and rocks. Mint and spice and such a deep minerality and all accented by some sweet oak. Oak is integrating more and more with air. Nose gets almost dizzying. So perfumed. Smokey and meaty with also some gorgeous florals. Impossibly complex. Palate is stunning and this sucker is built to age. Really built to age with unreal depth of fruit and such amazing freshness. Wow. This is so refined and elegant. Amazing fruit purity. More black than red. So so long. This is incredible. To be this massive and so refined is quite a feat. The finish is endless and the freshness is something else. Wow. So so long. Insane concentration never heavy. Almost perfect but surely will be with age. — 13 days ago

Shiraz 2009

Continuing my theme of Australian cool climate Shiraz - this from the Canberra District. Considered by many to be as good as Clonakilla’s flagship Shiraz Viognier. Nose of pepper and spice with red fruits. On the palate cherry and spice with earthy mineral notes finishing with persistent fine Tannins. A very good cool climate Australian Shiraz in the mould of a Saint Joseph or Cote Rotie. NB Delectable this is Clonakilla Syrah. Not offered in your choices. — 23 days ago

So mineral. Seashells, lime zest, lime blossom, iodine, palate is rich and ripe, acid on the finish is just intense. Juicy, so mineral, so long, persistent. — 8 days ago
