GG Am Buhl Grauer Burgunder 2016

Pop and pour. Disappearing quickly. On the nose: pear, lemon oil, wet stone, hazelnut. On the palate: lovely acidity, but really stunning density, hazelnut oil, lemon, soft pepper and limestone. Wow. Really lovely and slathered in minerality. — 5 months ago

Citrus fruit and flinty minerality. Cheek-sucking acidity. Would be better in the summer on a warm day — 2 years ago

Our favorite Spring day is when we get plant the yard. Especially, during Covid-19 lockdown. Never more enjoyable.

Flowers by Sofia. Garden is me.

A great weather day and worthwhile doing a cheers with of one of our favorite N/V Rosé Champagne’s.

With the lockdown, I am running dangerously low on Rosé Champange. I might have to Soda Stream some Rosé wine soon.

All my many, many notes still apply.

Cheers all and Happy Easter if you celebrate it. 🍾🥂🍷 🐣 🐰

@Severn Goodwin that a lot of real estate to spend on tomatoes. With that much herb I’d grow some pizza with it. Impressive @David T !

Severn- you are sooo funny! We grow the hemp in the front yard, not with the other veggies 😉

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

This was fantastic, strong, and yet still seemingly understated. Although I am no fortune teller, this seemed strong and young. I couldn’t place all the flavors I experienced, but to my palate there was raspberry, blackberry, smoked meats, soil after a rain, and portobello mushroom all matched with a beautiful color to stare at between sips. Long pauses to enjoy the long finish. — 3 months ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Served blind alongside what was eventually revealed to be the 2018 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars “SLV”. This was immediately recognizable as Montebello with a textbook nose of deftly balanced American oak and a decidedly brighter version of Cabernet Sauvignon. Distinctive and distinguished but woefully young. Unless you have multiples, please hang onto these until at least 2029. I am convinced that Monte Bello is truly an American treasure. — 10 months ago

What a wine. Genius. Brilliant. But that’s 2019. Insane nose of honeysuckle, caramel nougat, spice, mineral, confectionary notes, apricot, peach skin and superb head spinning mineralIty. What a palate. Elegant, spicy, tons of apricot and peach skin, and so juicy and energetic. Pure and sappy. So nimble but also has energy and substance for days. Citrus, marmalade flavors develop after some minutes. Juicy and so clean. Unreal. So pure. Sappy and dense. Balanced and long. This has serious stuffing. What a wine. Perfect ripeness balanced with scintillating minerality and energy. Chewy. Wonderful. After some air one gets lost in the nose and aroma. Dizzying. The best honeyed aromas. Pitted fruits now and more incisive minerality. So long. A stunner. — 3 years ago
