Intense is the word, almost essence of Chardonnay, almost painful to taste. Nose is a bit reticent with a bit of menthol and sulfur, but the palate just is a kaleidoscope of amazing flavors and great density. Minerals and acid are in forefront, lovely citrus fruit. Did I mention minerals? Texture is thick but not heavy. Finish endless. It’s a really great wine. — 4 years ago

Fucking glorious Garnacha. Sous bois, turned earth, wet leaves, cinnamon, ground cloves, pepper, allspice, tar, crushed black plum and cherry fruit, almost dried tones mixed in, burnt earth, dried herbs, wilted flowers. Nose is subtle, but definition is there. Plate is a kaleidoscope of dark spices, savory earth, and gorgeous muddled fruit. Exotic, alluring in every sense, structured w/ powerful tannin almost reminiscent of Nebbiolo. A captivating wine in terms of texture and elegance. — 5 years ago

mountain of thunder indeed—in the zone and it would stay there for another decade (but not this bottle). The depth of flavor and cool menthol tame the wild layers of flavor. With a citrus center, it stays focused while providing a kaleidoscope of flavors. The texture is oh so soft as it lays on the palate and then just drives through into my brain. “Iron fist in a velvet glove” was used to describe claret but it works here. Grand cru in all but name, the finish may get me through the next two weeks of being dry. It just echoed. The term head spinning is apt. — 6 years ago

This scheurebe delivers a very sweet, musky, very rich tropical fruit smorgasbord. The nose is musky fruit, especially horseapple, and a beautiful floral fragrance.
The palate is led by guava but includes papaya, mango, lychee, pineapple and the horseapple that dominates the nose. There are complementary herbal and floral notes as well.

This is delicious and each sip delivers a kaleidoscope of sweet tropical fruits. Well executed by Pfeffingen

These were only bottled in 375mls and the full production was only ~300 bottles

The ‘97 Jamet Côte Brune was hauntingly good captivating us all with its kaleidoscope array of aromas. Coal smoke, tar, bacon fat and scorched earth. Ethereal palate with so much depth, complexity and focused acidity. Very long finish. Ridiculously good for the vintage and definitely the best red of the evening. Everything’s there. Obviously not a blockbuster vintage but also just holding back. Have a feeling the mineral kaleidoscope opens on this with some age. Into it. Maybe not for the money PERSONALLY but for people looking for real California coastal influence Chardonnay this is a good place to put a finger in it — 7 years ago

As it often is, the Blanc de Blancs La Bolorée (Pinot Blanc) is the most complete of these Champagnes, and that is saying a lot this year. Quite simply, the 2014 Bolorée is an utterly mesmerizing Champagne. A kaleidoscope of aromas, flavors and textures takes over the senses. Extravagant in its beauty, the Bolorée will thrill readers lucky enough to find it. A kaleidoscope of aromas . Lots of cherry, both black and red , earth and oak. A real feel good palate. The nose is transferred to the palate with the addition of wonderful spice flavors and great balance. No rush to drink. Concentration and smooth tannins. P: some tar, but integrated into a massive whole, surprisingly open and great w protein. Coats the mouth with a panoply of flavor, fruit earth, floral.

Very light and cloudy. Totally has rayas funk. Starts off very secondary with notes of artichoke, green tobacco, nutmeg and cardamom, then shows some brilliant bright fruit (cranberry, cherry, and grapefruit rind). Elegant and feminine. Truly Grenache. Give it time in the glass and realize a kaleidoscope. — 6 years ago

One of the great terroirs of Sancerre, paired with buffalo chicken salad because why not.
