Azienda Agricola Elvio Cogno
Ravera Barolo Nebbiolo
Was able to enjoy the 2017 Elvio Cogno Revera Barolo this weekend from Novello, Italy.
On the nose are beautiful notes of cherry, strawberry, plum, floral notes, underbrush, spice, balsamic, menthol and dried earth.
On the palate is lovely cherry notes, strawberry, raspberry, licorice, menthol, brick, tar, minerality and dry earth.
This wine is full bodied with a fresh voluptuous mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + to high mouthcoating crunchy tannins that smoothly moves into a long red fruit earthy finish. The weekend is almost at end and the week ahead holds optimism, hope and excitement. Let is all be optimistic and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Ravera is name of the cru where the vineyard is located. Hillside Vineyard encircles the cellar, surrounding the estate. Aged 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels & 6 months in bottle. Ruby with pronounced aromas of red fruits, tobacco, licorice and gentle wafts of cedar. On the palate flavors of dried fruits, strawberry and raspberry with notes of cacao, leather and tobacco, slight herb citrus tones, well balanced with acidity. Firm structured tannins, opened quickly giving way to long finish ending with fruit, leather and earthy mineral character. Very Nice! Tasting Sample.

Expressive nose showing cherry, leather, spice with floral & tobacco notes where on the palate the wine was all about finesse & elegance. Beautiful follow up to the Faiveley.
