Donnafugata

Angheli Sicilia Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Sicilian wine evening, wine #7
Very classic CS/Merlot blend with black currant & cassis with some pencil shavings and a whiff of menthol. Ripe and fruit forward on the palate with polished tannins and good balance between the fruits& the acidity. Proper, correct, could come from any other place in the world. Still, a very good wine in itself.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Wine #7 in this bracket. My blind tasting notes - similar to #6 but lighter in colour and nose. ( As it later turned out they were both Armand Rousseau wines but I would not have expected Chambertin to be slightly lighter in colour than the Ruchottes). Again palate staining spicy intensity with a long future assured. Brilliant. — a year ago

Columella Liberatus Castro Bonae Spei Shiraz Blend 2004

This weekend will have a world Rugby theme starting with this South African red followed by wines from New Zealand and Argentina. Sadly Australia having fallen to #7 ranked in the world did not feature :( A great combination of fruit and savoury characters. A lovely fragrant plummy earthy perfume. Nice minerality with blackberry and raspberry flavours on a medium weight palate. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. A world class Shiraz Blend not showing its 14 years and still a good cellaring future. Tasted again 23 weeks later on 23rd March 2019 with consistent notes. — a year ago

@TheSkip I just decanted it and served it approximately 20 Minutes later. It is a very approachable and easy to drink right out of the bottle. His more expensive cuvée will need more time.
