Domaine Armand Rousseau

Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Wine #7 in this bracket. My blind tasting notes - similar to #6 but lighter in colour and nose. ( As it later turned out they were both Armand Rousseau wines but I would not have expected Chambertin to be slightly lighter in colour than the Ruchottes). Again palate staining spicy intensity with a long future assured. Brilliant. — 7 months ago

Anciano Gran Reserva Aged 5 Years Valdepeñas Tempranillo 2008

How is this wine in sale for $10?! TEN DOLLARS! Tastes like a $25 Spanish wine. Slightly oaky. Leathery notes. — 2 years ago

I discovered this hidden jewel while in Los Cabos, California Baja, Mx. The Bottle was #3, the following year we found #5. So impressed with the versatility of this wine and its elegant body that we bought a case knowing this bottle was of great substance and under-priced! Taste worthy of $20+... yet only $8. Last year I found #7 and #10 in Canada. Yes, the price has increased but still a beautiful wine that is sure to please at only $14 Cdn.
While #5 remains my favorite, #3, #10 and #7 are tight runners up that will please everyone (from the wallet, to the glass, to the nose, lips and taste).

@TheSkip I just decanted it and served it approximately 20 Minutes later. It is a very approachable and easy to drink right out of the bottle. His more expensive cuvée will need more time.

Columella Liberatus Castro Bonae Spei Shiraz Blend 2004

This weekend will have a world Rugby theme starting with this South African red followed by wines from New Zealand and Argentina. Sadly Australia having fallen to #7 ranked in the world did not feature :( A great combination of fruit and savoury characters. A lovely fragrant plummy earthy perfume. Nice minerality with blackberry and raspberry flavours on a medium weight palate. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. A world class Shiraz Blend not showing its 14 years and still a good cellaring future. Tasted again 23 weeks later on 23rd March 2019 with consistent notes. — 10 months ago
