The aromatics on this are powerful and complex. Florals, dark berries and savory components. This is generous and rewarding in youth. A beautiful example of savory/briny character accented by rich red fruit. Structured and textured. This shows great complexity, but also inviting freshness. Absolutely great. Toscana wine evening #5
Infanticide, I know.
Reductive in the nose, even after 6h decanting. Very slowly, some bright, ripe cherry emerges, plus some tomato leaf and uplifting herby whiff.
Beautiful mouthfeel with finely grained tannins & bright cherry acidity. Currently the sun dried tomatoes and tomato leaf overpower the cherry, but this is really, really good. Just don’t open it for (at least) the next 5y.
A beautiful wine. — 3 months ago
An interesting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend. Complex flavors that didn’t come across as a brut sparkling wine to me. #5 on the Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2019. — 7 months ago
Quarantine bottle #5. we usually live NZ Sauvs but this wasn’t our fave. Went well with our halibut though. — 4 months ago
Piemonte tasting #5
10h decanting and this is still quite closed with medicinal and herbal aromas dominating. Some shy sweet peppery cherry slowly emerging.
On the palate this is spicy, grippy, tannic and not overly acidic. Much more full & modern vs you everyday Barolo, with the tannins a bit dry from the oak, very drinkable though.
Needs much more time but delicious nevertheless. — 2 months ago
Worthwhile at the approx $9 I paid for it (on a mixed case basis). Malbec is better when riper. This is viscous, with a nice mouth feel. Heavy nose, dark fruit and wet wood. Pandemic bottle #5. — 4 months ago
