The Feathery

Cobb

Emmaline Ann Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Somm David T
9.2

Something to help the transition from Champagne to Cabernet.

Cobb & Hirsh Pinot Noirs are quite similar to me. Both well made, are good but have never astounded.

This 2014 is near its precipice.

The body is round & inviting. I sense a touch of tannins. Black cherries, blackberries, poached strawberries, pomegranate, just a hint of rhubarb, hovering raspberries, plum, haunting blueberries and black raspberries. Tree sap, hints of eucalyptus, dry crushed rocks, dry twig, light clove, some nutmeg, cinnamon, and feathery vanillin, lightly grilled meats, mix of fresh and used tobacco with soft ash, old used leather, soft, black pepper, mid dark spice, sandalwood, sandstone, red, purple and dark flowers, nice acidity with a softly tensioned, nicely balanced, elegantly, soft finish that lasts 90 seconds and lands softly on mid toned spices on the long set.

Domaine Faury

Saint Joseph Syrah 2018

Blood & guts, tight as a button. Clocks in at 14.5% but so in balance- rather feathery & light. Should have done a brief decant. — 5 years ago

Barba

Collemorino Montepulciano D'Abruzzo

Bramble fruit and black cherry aplenty on the nose of this #montepulcianodabruzzo, succeeded by wet slate and soft spice plus dried floral notes. Bountiful acidity offsetting dark fruit and cocoa on the palate tracking into feathery tannins on the finish - delicious if you let it air out for a day. Note this was tight and vanilla-laden when you first open it; a day in the wine fridge works wonders. Check the box for another Italian grape and region I need to try more frequently. — 5 years ago

Calvet-Thunevin (Thunevin-Calvet)

Cuvée Constance Côtes du Roussillon Villages Carignane Grenache 2015

This wine is perfectly aged for tonight. Needs a few years, and it will shine, like tonight.

Smells of blackberry prune preserves.

Tastes of Ripe bush fruit, oregano, super juicy, well rounded mouthfeel, soft, feathery tannins that mingle swimmingly well with the acid and stave.
Great wine, great price. Just needs to sit for a hot minute.

Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc

@Estiatorio Milos in Miami enjoying this lovely Sancerre with our Dover Sole and Branzino. This has got to be the lightest, feathery Sancerre we’ve ever had. Sancerre is my favorite for many reasons. Just a beautiful wine for any time of year but beckons you to the beach and a warm breeze. — 3 years ago

Tribaut-Schloesser

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

Feathery light stylistically, pushing an arbor apples and Bosc pear dressed in lemon verbena on the nose. Pithy lemon and pithy lime surround, with a chalky tartar biscuit before a headlong zest of lemon-lime races for the finish. .

Mi Sueño Winery

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 1997

2nd of 3 wines part of a virtual work happy hour from the Mrs. #russianrivervalley #pinotnoir - boldly fruit-forward, bramble fruit, faint spice on the nose. Drinks richer than many Merlots. Some layers in the palate, creamy texture, faint spice behind a big tidal wave of purple fruit up front and feathery tannins to finish. It needs more acidity and I prefer a more elegant Pinot but definitely a well-made wine if big fruity Pinot is your thing. — 6 years ago

Penfolds

Cellar Reserve Tasmania Pinot Noir 2018

Delectable - this is actually Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir from Tasmania, not offered in your choices. Bright light to mid crimson in colour. Aromatic red fruits with a little caramel oak. A light to medium weight palate - quite delicate finishing with light feathery tannins. I have drunk many Penfolds reds over the years but very very few Pinots. With their vast resources (this is from cool climate Tasmania) and winemaking expertise they will create some fabulous Pinot Noir. — 3 years ago

Grands Cras Morgon Gamay 2019

Ah #morgon magic - right away aromas of red/black berry compote, a pleasantly earthy funk, iron, graphite, black tea. Medium-light body, crunchy acidity, slight feathery tannins. Such a pretty wine that paired well with vegetable/cauliflower tapas, fresh tuna ceviche, poached salmon and all the way to buffalo steak. — 4 years ago
