Ok, ok - quite good and by far my favorite from Thorle (the first non-Spatburgunder). It has that smokey quality on the nose. Wooly, vegetal, hint of whistle clean lemon counter cleaner. The mouth is vibrant with 2.5 times the acidity you're expecting. Hangs on the tip of your tongue for an extra dedicated couple of seconds. — 4 years ago

Another solid vintage of Ziereisen’s Entry Level Baden Spatburgunder. Dark garnet color with a ruby core. Fragrant aromas of red cherry/berry fruit, forest floor and a hint of smoke. Flavors of sour cherry, unripe strawberry and pomegranate fruit with additional hints of dried herbs, savory spices and minerals. Long lasting earthy finish and extremely smooth tannins. Medium bodied with a very smooth texture and a bit of tension. Rustic but quite elegant at the same time. Excellent quality for a reasonable price. — 3 months ago

I’m not quite as effusive as @Lyle Fass but this was indeed gorgeous - step above their straight Spatburgunder w/tons of personality. I was really taken w/perfumed nose and earth driven elements. Yeah there’s gobs of decadent cherry, raspberry & strawberry, but the brambly herbal spice elements are downright sexy. The nose on this wine is magnificent, so beautifully funky and barnyardy, in the best of ways. On the palate, a true German Spatburgunder, lighter in color and mouth feel than a Burgundian Pinot Noir. I’m sure this will only get better with time. — a year ago

A darker Pinot with a bit more punch. Needs to breath a bit and then shows dark cherry with a raspberry whiff, a hint of kirsch, some nicely integrated spice woody aromas. Enticing.
On the palate this is so smooth, velvety, with a nice round mouthfeel and so fine tannins. Impeccably balanced and is drinking so nicely right now.

I’ve only experienced quality Spatburgunder with Enderle & Moll, so tasting this Savio Soares import ( in proper Pinot stemware) felt like another revelation. Jörg is every year better in making his unfiltriert Spatburgunder, the 2016 is for me a great effort. And considering I don’t like Pinot Noir you can imagine how good this wine must be🤣 silky and perfumes of cherries with delicate chocolate.
