Perhaps the best Coda di Volpe i've ever had
60yo vines, 4 days maceration and 30% of the mass fermented in chestnut barriques; after that 12 months in stainless steel.
Wine that truly is alive
It feels like still fermenting(but it's not)
It makes me picture kimchi, ginger and daikon
It has this tingling fruit and a mineral tension
Background of honey and gunpowder plus a decoration of spring flowers
It goes without saying how highly i consider Cantina Giardino, the barrels they use are all crafted by a local artisan with local woods among chestnuts(like in this case), cherry, figs or others that might slip out of my mind at present.
This is a wine made of beauty with no make up.
It's long and refreshing and super enjoyable. — 3 years ago
Blend of equal amounts of local red grapes; Caino, Espadeiro and Loueiro, Ruby red color with aromas of red fruits, herb, floral and cigar box notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with tobacco, oak and garden herbs. Medium+ finish, chalky tannins, savory, ending with herbs, spice, cedar and slight fruit, savory. Nice, will continue to age. — 7 months ago
Visiting Fredericksburg TX for a few days. This is TX hill country and has a big winery community. Never tried any TX wines before but found a few surprises here. We tasted at Becker earlier today but not this wine. $30 on the restaurant wine list. Becker wasn’t our favorite stop but it is the only local winery represented on their list. Overall local wines seemed overpriced compared to CA wines. Just realized we had an older vintage (2018) on our last trip from Houston to Anaheim. It’s interesting that most of the grapes used in the local wines come from Lubbock (panhandle) area. Don’t know where these grapes came from, or what varietals are present. — 4 years ago

Well Balanced fresh tasting white, surprisingly good. Best enjoyed with good local food. Yamas ! — 3 years ago
Smoky, savoury, and spicy nose, some oak and a leesy sulphidic note. On the palate mainly citrus but a little riper verging on to stone fruit. One of David Bicknell’s lesser Cuvées which I thought would be lean but not so. Coming together at 6 years of age. Drinking really well from one of Australia’s best Chardonnay exponents. — 4 years ago

Picked up a couple of these from a local cellar sale at a crazy cheap price and have been happy with each one.
Classically older SLD Cabernet. The fruit spectrum is on the red and black side (as I expect from SLD) with a mocha/cocoa layered sweetness. Some older fig, sweet pipe tobacco, and a core of fruit still in-tact. Soft on the mid-palate but retaining nice structure throughout the finish. Exactly what I expected from 34yr old Napa Cabernet.
Hope to try the Realm X Hartwell wine to see the vision from where this was to what the profile goal is in the future. — 8 days ago
