Julian Of The Seasons

1,000L Riesling

Dry and mineral driven, with a very light, slightly green hue, and a slightly medium and oily look to the consistency, but not noticeable when you’re sipping. Big nose of tart citrus, leychee, wet stone and some gentle florals with grassy notes and a hint of lemon rind. Very fruit forward but also dry, with tropical notes of underripe pineapple, Meyer lemon, leading to a dry mineral finish. — 5 months ago

Ohligsberg Kabinett Riesling 2017

En-magnum and right at the source. Perfect energy drink to pick us up after a morning of hard work, climbing the steep slopes of Schubertslay. Playful, juicy, complex! Amazing kabi. — a year ago

Reserve Braganini Michigan Pinot Noir 2016

Nice fruit from start to finish. Smooth and semi-dry with good balance. Excellent example of a Michigan Pinot Noir. — 2 years ago

HaartRiesling 2020

Fresh, crisp, juicy & zippy. A bone-dry, mineral Kabinett. A joy!
Slate, hot stones, salt, a hint of white flowers and underripe peach. A touch of lemon peel.
On the palate this is filigrane, light, yet the juicy acidity gives this a huge energy kick. The finish last forever with a salty, spicy mineral edge to out.
This drinks like a dream and faster than you can describe it. Brilliant!

Mosel Riesling 2020

Absolutely delicious Mosel Riesling here that feature the wet slate and mineral notes that really define the region for me. Some honey and peach on the nose as well, but inside it is a well balanced and concentrated amount of citrus and pear. A touch of sweetness, but beautifully weighed with the justice scales of acid. — a year ago

Piesporter Trocken Riesling 2017

Wet stones, fresh lemon zest and sweet lemon curd on the nose, hints of TND, citrus blossom, slightly white peppery. Searingly high acidity. 12% abv. Done dry. Medium+ finish on the dryness and phenolic bitterness. It’s a lovely wine. — 2 years ago

SP68 Bianco Terre Siciliane Albanello Muscat of Alexandria 2015

The problem with SP68 bianco is that you always drink it young, just few months after arrival. And then you start dreaming about it somewhere in between seasons, when it's no available anymore. But luckily, there are folks who stored a bunch of 2015! Clean style orange, not funky anymore. Chamomile, amber, quince, baked peach, sunflower oil, subtle hints of VA, pickles (like in old Burgundy), tea and citrus peel. Quite fresh, well balanced, good tannin, medium+ body. It certainly lacks acidity.

Frauenberg Riesling 2020

Tasted like a Mosel GG. There’s probably some intellectual implication in this statement, but I reckon that best be shared once I’ve had KP’s rendition of this vineyard. The wine comes from one of KP’s parcel in Florsheim that’s farmed and vinified by Julian in Piesport. The opening statement probably roots from the extreme tartness and overall structure of the wine, but I wouldn’t discount the inherent biases of not tasting blind. Opened with an insane nose of ripe stone fruits, pears, white flowers, herbs, camphor, and a very interesting pastry-lke character. Concentrated, long, very tart, and chalky on the palate. It will undoubtedly improve in the cellar, but was already such a joy to drink at this stage. I absolutely adored the wine, but it must be said that the feeling was likely amplified by the fact that it involves some of my favourite vintners in the world - Julian and KP. — a year ago

Was told last year when I tried to schedule a visit they charge everyone an “experience” fee, which is non-refundable, and is charged regardless of how much wine is purchased…I passed. Too bad, I enjoy their wines.

@Shay A I have more recently been selecting wineries offering food&wine combo pairings for visits, so not expecting a refund.....though, this one was basically just a tasting (included a small meat/cheese plate) and yes there was no tasting fee discount for the wines I purchased.
