This 2005 is just entering a phase of real pleasure. The nose is packed with fruit tones of mandarin orange, Anjou pear, quince and Meyer lemon peel with a delightful waxy hints and loads of minerality. Palate displays typical richness of the vintage with a viscous mouthfeel that is reigned in with mineral accents. Superb notes of satsuma, pear, Fuji apple mingle with baking spice flavors. The long finish is dense and packed. Certainly will benefit with at least 5 more years in bottle. Double decanted at at 2PM served 6 hours later. — 22 days ago
This is a wonderful bottle with fruit notes of nectarine, pear and orange peel accented by wax, warm stones and a subtle touch of Chave oxidation. Starts with a viscous mouthfeel that freshens with time in the decanter. Fruit of tangerine, baked red apple, quince are joined with loads of wet stones and a lovely hit of acidity. Good but was expecting more. Stewed fruits and spice on nose. Muddled fruit, bacon grease, smoke wrapped around a huge core with gritty tannins. Biggest wine we’ve had in a while. Worked well with TKs ‘Stroganoff’ braised short ribs with mushroom cream sauce. — a month ago

This exudes the aromas of mature Chave Hermitage. Blackberry, red plum and cassis mingle with smoked cured meats, graphite, forest floor, soy and allspice aromas. The wine is surprisingly lithe with juicy tannins and pitch perfect acidity. Flavors of cured meats, cranberry, red plum jump on the palate. The finish is elegant with mineral inflected red fruit notes. This showcases the blending art at the estate as 97 had distinct challenges in during the year and harvest. — 22 days ago
Brilliant. Wide, deep and expansive, darkly fruited nose. Tiny purple flowers and pink peppercorn. Perfumed. Some doughy aromas. Ripe black cherries with herbal notes of savory, oregano and menthol on the salty, long finish. Fruity, suave, nicely tart and concentrated palate. Just getting going. — 25 days ago
