Domaine De La Fully

Château Margaux

Premier Grand Cru Classé Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Lots going on here as the nose unwinds but unfortunately in a tasting scenario it's hard to see it evolve. There's a surprising amount of red fruit and subtle florals that are fully enveloped in sandalwood and cigar box. The oak shows up prominently but elegantly, like smelling the inside of a very nice guitar. On the palate, acidity and red fruit dominate with plenty of freshness, signaling longevity and less velvety tannins than I expected. They still hit the side of the mouth. — a month ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1997

The pinnacle of Syrah.

It opens with smoked meat, dried black olive, leather, and stone.

The palate is graceful and savory, where fading dark fruit, iron, and earth glide on silken, fully melted tannins.

Legendary Hermitage!

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Thought some of the previous 2014-2018 vintages were ready steady go! from the onset but this may take the cake. Light-medium body. Nose is über-giving with herbs and baking spices. Finish of 40+ seconds highlighting a cocoa/baking chocolate baseline supplemented with ripe dark cherry and plum. Tannins fully in check-for now. — 4 years ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

1 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). A striking medium purplish garnet color with bricking. On the nose: Inviting notes of dried red fruit, currants, pencil shavings, floral, stewed meat, milk chocolate. Taste: fully mature, savory, silky wine with dried plum, ground coffee, earth, minerals, tobacco, and a sour cherry/green bell pepper/graphite long finish. YUM!! Drink em if you got em. — 3 months ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2009

So for those who don’t know, this wine is a collaboration between one of the most famous California winemakers and one of the most famous Bordeaux wine makers (the grapes are from Napa).

The young expression when I first had it 10 years ago was big bold ripe fruit, probably the quintessential Napa cab.

The aged expression had more secondary and tertiary characteristics, terroir, and represented Baron Rothschild in respects of crafting a wine that could grow and develop and express the care that goes into winemaking as opposed to simply growing good fruit.

The young version of it perfectly expresses Mondavi and Napa. The aged version captures the elegance of Bordeaux winemaking and Rothschild’s fingerprints. You cannot fully experience this wine unless you’ve had it young and old. Unbelievable experience tonight.

@Lee Pitofsky Had a bottle 37 weeks ago and it very much lived up to expectations. Hoping to have my last bottle in 2036 when it will be a 50 year old wine. It won’t have any problems going the distance. Thanks for sharing.

Quintessa

Rutherford Red Blend 1998

26 years on and still going strong. Likely doesn’t have a lot of time left. Took about 2 hours to fully open then it was all dried cherries, spice and silky tannins. — a year ago

Château Léoville Poyferré

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1959

1959 vintage. Cork fully saturated (no seepage) but held together during removal using a Durand. Looked like a red Burgundy during decanting while throwing some sed but not nearly as much as expected. Beautiful, unified nose of age. Surprising amount of fruit with plenty of internal structure intact for balance. Simply phenomenal. — 3 years ago
