Mmm this is why I like Petite Sirah! Lots of dark fruit with a smooth finish. Great story on the bottle about how a Count from Europe immigrated to America. He became the first Sheriff of San Diego County then moved to Northern California to pursue grape growing. As legend has it, he was eaten by a crocodile while in Nicaragua. This wine honors his spirit as an entrepreneur, an explorer, a true daredevil at heart. — 6 years ago
Rhône Valley Rose’ blend of Grenache (50%) and Syrah (50%). Light pink color. Abundant aromas of strawberry, raspberry and white flowers. More raspberry fruit on the palate with additional flavors of strawberry and watermelon. Well balanced and quite crisp. Just a bit of heft. Interesting bottle design. Appreciate you opening this one, Chris B! — a year ago

Didn’t get a chance to visit here in Margaret River last year, so wanted to give this a run out. Really excellent cab, more Bordeaux-esque than Napa. Really well made wine, excellent finish. Tons of structure, probably too early to drink but it is still really approachable now. Pairs well with crocodile and skippy! — 7 years ago

I had no idea how this was going to present, and in the end, we were thrilled. Initially, the nose showed rose petals and an odd caramel note not typical in burgs that I have tasted. The mid palate was stunning. It had a dense and voluminous mouthfeel. Subdued bing cherries and cedar worked their magic, combined with moderate but resolved tannins. Played very well with our mushroom pate (yes, you read that correctly). The bottle held its own throughout dinner, although the bouquet became more compressed over time. Duband is a go-to Burg producer for me. The majority of his better bottlings are reasonably priced in comparison to other Burg producers.

Juicy welches cran grape in a great way. Drank in a tiny house in Asheville, bought at crocodile wine — 5 years ago

Medium–light bodied. Really faint tannins and mellow acids. Violets, herbs, earthy. At first taste was afraid it was too fruit forward but it quickly developed into a drier, more savory profile. Was delicious with the French dinner at Le Crocodile. — 6 years ago
I am not the biggest fan of Aussie wines, perhaps because of Mel Gibson or Crocodile Dundee. Nevertheless, it’s a g’day mate if you imbibe this Cab. It’s is confounding how classic the flavor profile is, yet that ubiquitous Aussie dimension is still present. Pretend you are living an island of incarcerated criminals, but at least you have wine. — 7 years ago
