Clos Saint Michel

Domaine Michel Gros

Fontaine Saint Martin Monopole Hautes Cotes de Nuit Pinot Noir 2017

Pop and pour. Purchased from Domaine. Lovely smoke and plum with a touch of VA. On the palate: excellent acidity, a touch of dark chcocolate, bright red fruit and soft tannin on the finish. Excellent for its level. — 23 days ago

Nose has buttered lemons, pineapple, wet stainless steel and warm sand.

@Kimberly Anderson A SA week is always a good one, hard not to find a good quality wine from there. We could drink it all the time, according to my wife...

Les Pezerolles Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Nose is gorgeous cherry lipstick As this opens almost this Burgundian Muskiness. Oh. My. May be fucktastic. ... yes it will be.

Palate is fresh cherry fruit. So juicy. Mineral. Dense. Cherry extract. $500 cherry liquor.

Much more classically burgundy than his other wines.

Needs 18 months. Will be very good.

Domaine Bernard Gripa

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2015

Nose is graphite.

Palate - silky texture. Graphite blended with blackberry.

Let’s see how this develops.

As this opens it’s definitely a graphite blackberry melange kind of thing. Good grip. Quite focused. Cerebral in a sense. Like this silky almost lilac extract on the palate.

If I had this blind I’d guess st jo on the nose and cote rotie on the palate.

Birth year wine. Rich, complex prime drinking with no signs of slowing. Did need an extra minute to wake up. Drink in next 10+ years. Paired beautifully to Australian Wagyu NY Strip. — 6 days ago

Domaine Louis Michel

Vaudésir Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2016

🏅 Rating 93/100 (4,3⭐)

Intense color with greenish hue. Fragrant aromatic, concentrated, sea salinity. Floral, almonds. Medium body. Unmistakably demonstrates the Grand Cru level which is accessible now and has immense potential for years ahead. Fully justifies the nobility of Vaudesir which often considered on par or the runner up to Le Clos.

Fairly steep slopes of Vaudesir with NW exposure provide cool temperatures and sunlight in the evening. Vines of Louis Michel parcels were planted in 1950-70s.

Winemaking with indigenous yeasts, spontaneous malo and matured for at least 18 months. Wines never see oak, stainless steel tanks only.
