The 2016 is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Deep Ruby with aromas of Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, cigar box spice and cedar notes. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry and black cherry with cacao, tobacco and complex spice. Youthful firm tannins, well balanced on long finish, ending with earthy mineral elegance. Very nice. Tasted ’15 and ’16 side by side, ’16 slightly better, will age well.

2016: Started out with solid purple fruit that strangely got lost after a few more hours of air. Is this shutting down? Too bad as it’s a solid maker and wine has good texture and relatively smooth tannins. $55 at Vine.

Nose is closed on open. As it opens lovely vegetal and herbal notes. As it opens … lavender. Damn. Herbs de Provence.

Palate is soft fruit. Quite good. Elegant. Silky. Delicious. A hint of cassis.

Really needs 90 minutes to open.

2016 vintage. Tasting again a month later. Reduced Baskin-Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream presence and increased anise/black licorice involvement. Otherwise…previous notes from the 4th of July, 2021 apply. Classy.

2016 vintage. Light/delicate body but plenty of color that brings a requisite amount of punch. Nose a little hot. Big-time Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream flavor dancing throughout the palate. Elegant, lengthy finish with the dancer adding a partnering hint of dill.

This was very young—many more years ahead of it. Cherry, licorice, pencil shavings, and minty finish.
