Château Saint Sernin

Domaine Dujac

Morey Saint Denis Pinot Noir 2018

Still very young but opening one anyway since this is a Villages wine I always love, a quick decant helps the nose to become more expressive with a dark fruit profile, the palate has great volume and texture, more expressive than the nose, medium to full bodied but nothing over the top either, the fruit is gorgeous and the wine is very approachable, nice delicious finish not too square for a young MSD, good right now, the potential is great. 90-91

Le Ban Saint-Aubin Pinot Noir 2014

Have not had since 2017! Knockout nose of mid season cherry fruit with lipstick like intensity. Superb spice and complexity. Really layered and wild but also restrained. Lovely earthy sous bois. It smells so authentic. Just an awesome nose. 9.4. Palate is awesome. Ripe and super juicy with awesome, sappy curly and wonderful freshness and purity. A knockout. Just terrific balance and such unreal fruit. Brilliant showing. Long and precise. This will open more. — 20 days ago

Ultreia Saint Jacques Mencía 2018

Love it!!!! Smokey bramble notes and charcuterie up front. Followed by plum, dusty earth, fig and cherry on the palate. Bright acidity and tannins balance out. 13.5%, amazing value. — 2 days ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

2003 vintage. Decanted for approx 3 hours. The usual LB nose. A little pickled mushroom/forest floor flavor profile off the bat, then settled into dark plum and cocoa powder shortly thereafter. Light-medium body and slightly “bigger” than expected at this point. Lots of stuffing still. It’s in the sweet spot/top of the bell curve currently…seems like it could sustain that momentum for at least another 4-5 years. — 4 days ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Back to 1982 and a stunning Cos d’Estournel. Beautiful old claret with tons of character - tobacco, cedar and blue fruits on the nose. Tannins completely resolved and notes of blue fruits, tobacco and hoisin rounded out the palate. Really special as always to open an 82. — 3 hours ago

Château Barde-Haut

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Inky and really dense & tight - we had a small glass first night and decided to try again the next. Initially reductive, finally yielded ton of herbaceous accented black fruit, licorice, leather & tobacco, some pepper & spice and distinct vein of minerality. Classic Right Bank, just elegant & rich, broad & fat across mid-palate. Some kirsch liqueur, vanilla & Xmas spices flavors. Stayed away from Bordeaux of late due to cost & bottle variation but this came highly recommended and satisfied the itch. Young, this has stuffing for the long haul. — 2 days ago

"Vigne de Saint-Claude" Saint-Véran Chardonnay 2014

Very much like a new world Chardonnay with that generous Macon nature. In a blind tasting I could easily pick this as Australian and be wrong. Peachy notes with lemon. Touch of pineapple juice. Vines are apparently 50 years of age and the wine sees 20% new oak. Drinks to its price point. — 16 days ago
