Château Du Haut Chevalier

Château Camensac

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

Firmly in tertiary territory at first, with mushroom and soy sauce on the nose and palate. After 20 minutes or air time fruit came to life, still with good acidity and chewy tannin. Has plenty of life in in but very tasty right now. — 2 days ago

Pinotman /// Andreas

Another one of those inexpensive underrated Bordeaux’s.

@Pinotman /// Andreas Agreed. It usually punches above it’s weight.

Domaine de Chevalier

Clos des Lunes Lune d'Argent Bordeaux Blanc Sec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2018

Kinda forgot how white Bordeaux is a bit of a sleeper when it comes to summer whites. A bit sleeker & more crystalline than my top dog White Bordeaux, but still fresh white flowers, some marzipan, & distant cut grass. Heavier on Semillion blend, which is my preference. — 9 days ago

Château Lestage Simon

Cuvee Egastel Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Aromas of black currant, crushed stone and baking spices. Highly concentrated black/blue fruit flavors with a touch of tar, vanilla and tobacco. Medium plus body and gripping tannins. Nice balance. Still tastes young and fresh. This one can age for quite a while. — 21 days ago

Château Haut-Marbuzet

St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Great! 1hr decant but probably should have PnP’d as this tired quickly and is a little past prime drinking window. Started out at 97 and ended at 94. Dark red, maroon color with ample bricking. Nose has bramble, cedar, and licorice. Massive depth which separates the $50+ Bordeaux’s from the same priced Napa wines. Lots of cherries and some Amarone and Port elements near the end. Medium finish. A fav of mine! Very consistent across vintages. — 3 days ago

Château Cambon La Pelouse

Un peu moins apprécié cette bouteille, fruits rouge cuit, c’était lourd, légère amertume. Pas à ce que je suis habitué avec Cambon. — a month ago

Domaine Leflaive

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1996

Tasted blind. Yellow gold in the glass, with similar notes as the 96 BBM and Batard next to it. Massive acidity. More floral than the other two. Very rich. This went neck and neck all night with the Batard as the best of the three. At first I liked the Chevy more but the Batard was right there too. 97+ — 17 days ago

Château Lanessan

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

1998 vintage. Considered a right bank vintage (like 1964), this Cabernet Sauvignon dominated (75%) wine comes as a great surprise. Robert Parker wrote in 2000 that "the tannin might never fully dissipate", but then it did. Classic Bordeaux with more charm in the mouth than in the rustic nose. Still tastes amazingly young with still good fruit and freshness and ... dissipated tannin. Not very long but a delight to drink and terrific value at around 21 euro. — a month ago
