Valpolicella Ripasso Corvina Blend 2016

Riondo Valpolicella Ripasso 2016

Crushed rocks, a dark juicy cherry and caramel and raisins notes on the nose. This is good. The palate is well designed. Strong acid backbone, blooming dark cherry all along. There is as well these raisins notes and that mineral thing which was very much front and center on the nose. Soft tannins kick off a very long finish with the same cherry and raisins notes with a pinch of caramel. This is a very good Ripasso.

Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Damn I should have bought a case of this from LB. Big dense fruit, bright, rocks, tannin. 13.7%. Looking forward to revisiting this down the road. — 12 days ago

This is just so good.

Nose is powdered rocks.

Nice delicious fruit. Mineral. Great acid balance. A kiss of honey.

You can get this from fass selections.

Fort Ross-Seaview Chardonnay 2017

Double decant and pour. A wicked light gold color. On the nose: apple, lemon, honey blossom, mandarin, and subtle vanilla oak. Taste: A creamy, rich medium plus body wine with pineapple, apple, minerals, crushed rocks, and honey. A fresh medium plus finish. Going great with raw hamachi crudo on this Saturday night. Cheers! — 11 days ago

Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1989

Tasted blind. Great nose but a tiny bit of taint. My first taste tells me this packs a big wallop. Huge fruit, acidity and structure. Lemon chiffon, white flowers, earth and rocks, some iodine. Motor oil weight. The taint was minor but just bothersome enough. Without it this would merit a bigger score. — 4 days ago

Clos Des Chenes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

What a wine. Stunning, ethereal nose of bright mid to late season sappy cherries, cocoa, minerals, huge and airy. Very expansive and pure. Stunning array of layered aromas. All on a bed of rocks and limestone. So so impressive. Incredible density and elegance with classic tell tale Clos des Chenes stoney minerality. Long, chewy and dense with superb purity and structure. Better in 10 years but fun to peek into today. — 4 days ago
