Château Haut Brion

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Vintage 1989 | 3/4 transparant, Italian rooftiles brown rim. A very intense bouquet: cedar, forrest wood, laurel, flint, cherries, só multi layered you tend to smell endless. Powerful taste, prominent bitters, still too young imo, the taste comes together with the entrecôte, awesome harmony. A benchmark for wine lovers. Fine that HB delivers to mark a special moment! I bought this when my daughter was born | at restaurant Pollevie — 7 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Le Clarence de Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Soft on the palette and luscious on the nose. Nice presence on sandalwood and oak. A bargain wine and vintage drinkable now or for another 5 years in the cellar. — 13 days ago

Château Bernadotte

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Pours ruby with some translucence. Benefits from a few hours decanting. Nose of tobacco, brown sugar, subtle strawberry and generous oak. Opens to cassis, truffle, leather and cigar box. Medium finish, with long tannins. Very well balanced. Great vintage, could be kept for much longer — a day ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Open for nearly an hour and the nose is closed for business. Medium/Heavy body and flavors coming through tho. Blackberry. Big cherry/plum combination. Choco cake. Hint o’ mint. Obsequious richness front-end loaded with the ample tannins jumping into the hot tub at the midway point. The best thing about this young pup is the balance. Could still go for a little more on the back end but the first two-thirds is so nice, I’ve laminated a hall pass with its’ name on it. — 5 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

1989 La Mission Haut Brion. Decanted and strained through cheesecloth over 4 hours prior to service. Glad we did. Continued to open up for the next 1-2 hours. Cassette tape, acetone, blueberries, gravel, soil. Really long finish. Drank side-by-side with the 1999 DRC Echezeaux (which we decanted just before serving) and it was a toss-up as to which we favored. Very different wines. The DRC was feminine, had more fruit, and a refined elegance. It was the favorite early on. However, as the La Mission evolved, it became hard to decide which was the favorite. — 7 days ago

Château Lanessan

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Very classical in style, good density and length, all the cabernet stuff is there, the wine holds really well and works great with food. If you like the rich and bold pass your way, otherwise give it a try, some of the best value of Bordeaux can be found here. Really good stuff. — 22 days ago
