Black and red cherry fruit aromas, dried cran and raisin, display a light tangerine, sage, aloe and pepper dust. Sweet tobacco, and spot on measures of cedar and smoke. Dried cherry, pointedly tart raspberry, black cherry, cocoa, coffee, and tarragon round out the palate. Juicy in places; lean on the pyrotechnics. Balanced in a word.

Young and fresh from the glass with black cherry, cranberry, roses and poppy. Great vintage holding up phenomenally! Black and bing cherry palate with soft, textural black olive, bright raspberry, lingonberry and catalyst salinity. Juicy! Great acidity makes this seem so young in every way, the only hint is a slight fade to brick, but mostly unvarying rim to rim.

Unabashedly big #brunellodimontalcino - Enchanting wild cherry, stewed plum + earthy sous bois scents. Wild cherry, strawberry palate, focused acidity and firm tannins on the finish. My second bottle will surely benefit from a decant but still an incredible wine paired with braised short rib and risotto. Drinks more elegant than the 15.5% ABV might suggest. — 9 months ago
Lighter-styled Brunello offering a red cherry mint, smoky soft plum and bruised rose petal; lightest pepper, poppyseed.
Vague notes of banana and spun sugar. Tart cherry, raspberry and oregano on the palate, cedar-cigar, grainy tannins and roobios. Good Brunello for the money!

True to form. Pure #brunello #brunellodimontalcino #sangiovese from inner #tuscany medium Garnet color medium(+) intensity aromas of red fruits, red cherries, pomegranate, raspberry and dried red plums. Hints of herbal aromas (oregano, thyme and sage) with secondary aromas of oak (vainilla, cedar and toast) and tertiary aromas and flavors of dried red fruits. On the palate the wine is dry with medium(+) acidity, firm ripe medium(#) tannins and high alcohol and a medium(+) body. The finish is medium(+). This is a 2015 and it can still develop favorably in the bottle. It has a balance of ripe red fruits, juicy medium(+) acidity and the maturation in oak gives it the elegance and the depth to continue to develop over time. It’s aromas and flavors are still full of juicy rich concentrated red fruits and the tertiary aromas and flavors so typical of Brunello make this wine a fine example. — 3 years ago

Probably now my favorite ~$20 #costco representation of a famous wine appellation. Pour medium+ body and clearly without heavy extraction in the glass. Lovely elegant dried cherries, sous bois, cremini mushroom, touch of dried roses and tar character on the nose. Pleasingly plush mouthfeel, yet it drinks lighter than the 14.5% ABV would suggest; bright acidity mid-palate. Finally, soft, seamless tannins and a long finish. Such a compelling QPR #brunellodimontalcino - trends to the elegant side of the BdM spectrum as opposed to the bold, oaky side. — 2 years ago
A more subtle style of #brunellodimontalcino - At 8 years, some slight bricking at the edges in glass, dark ruby. Given decant time, some indirect wild cherry, leather, underbrush aromas. Piquant brightness in the mouth; shy red fruit, some caramel notes, sturdy tannins. Some initial tired raisiny aromas make me wonder if this would go the distance but at 8 years seems to be drinking fine if you air it out. — 2 years ago

Absolutely ridiculous QPR on this #brunellodimontalcino from Trader Joe’s. Overall impressions, so much verve on the fruit set off by classic earthy-softly-spicy #sangiovese character on the palate. Rich on mouthfeel framed with firm acidity and tannins. It’s so easy to pair this wine with beef, a nice Tuscan sausage pasta, mushroom ravioli - so many possibilities. — 8 months ago
