Fine, lacked structure and a touch flabby. #henschke #shiraz #syrah #barossa #australia #ctbucklinwine — 5 years ago
#grenache from #barossa #barossavalley sort of a #village wine I really enjoyed it. It’s nice to see a large winery like Yalumba be versatile and grow wines like this one. Pale ruby color. Reminiscent in aspect and aromas to a Pinot, more savory and spicy on the palate with higher alcohol than a Pinot. Oak nice and subtle and well-integrated. #australian — 2 years ago
This is definitely not my style of #barossa - excessive sweetness, over-extraction and uncouth tannins. It perhaps was not fair to drink it alongside a Bordeaux and Côtes-du-Rhone. — 3 years ago
Clear and bright deep ruby
clean, pronounced red fruit notes like red cherry, black fruit like bramble and black cherry, MLF cream, oak vanilla coconut, choco, oxidation almond and caramel
dry, medium- acidity, high ripe and fine tannins, high alcohol full body and pronounced intensity flavors #shiraz #barossa #australian #penfolds — 5 years ago
After a 3 hour rest in the glass due to oblivion and being very busy I tasted it. Quite unexpectedly good, very often I'm biased against the New World and it's nice to enjoy once in a while. Savoury and only mildly fruity; olives and herbs in the nose with balanced alcohol (remarkable being at 14,5%). Palate is mineral and got a good inspiration from the right Rhône Rangers. #barossa #shiraz — 6 years ago
Solid 9.0. #barossa valley #barossavalley blend of #gsm #grenache, #shiraz and #mataro or #garnacha #syrah and #monastrell #mourvedre Deep deep color typically ripe (low latitude=intense sunlight) medium (+) aromas of red and black fruit, hints of ink, chocolate and toast. On the palate...as one would expect, ripe and juicy. Maintains a lovely balance between the ripeness and juicy sweetness of the fruit, the medium acidity and the high alcohol (hardly noticeable) and ripe tannins. Good stuff. Reminds me of my wines from Campo de Borja. #australia #southaustralia — 2 years ago

Been awhile since I’ve had this big boy. Juicy-jammy, but reined in. Big blackberry was expected, and echoed on the palate, but dried blackberry, oregano, dried black currant, tobacco, Turkish coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla, make it decadent. Violets, smoke, allspice and leather keep it honest. Pleasantly satisfying and a welcome diversion. .
