Pletter Lagrein 2016

Deep purple in color with a short purple/ reddish rim. Not showing its age.

On the nose black currants, black plums, cherries, light oak, licorice, barnyard, bitter herbs, spices, dark coffee, earth and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, blueberries, raspberries, light wood, earth, river rocks, coffee, tobacco leaf, bitter vegetables, spices, light herbs and peppercorn.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice Italian red from Italy. Rich and extracted with a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Tannins show up after an hour.

This 5 year old is still young, and needs another 5 years in the bottle to mature properly.

A good food wine that I paired with cheeses and olives. Paired nicely with French Camembert.

100% Lagrein grapes were aged for 12 months in neutral oak barrels. Certified Organic.

14% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

La Rua Marzemino della Vallagarina IGT 2019

Spicy nose, with hints of cedar plank. Silky smooth, velvet body, perfect tannins. Lingering and punch finish leaves you wanting the next sip. — 7 days ago

Abbazia di Novacella (Stiftskellerei Neustift)

Stiftskellerei Neustift Pinot Grigio

This was very expressive, but I found the stone and tropical fruit to be a bit overpowering. Perhaps this could in fact mellow out for a year or two. In any case, a wine that without a doubt has a lot going on; good acid, stone, and a wide array of fruit that moves between ripe orchard fruit and more exotic pineapple and tangerine. — 4 days ago

Kurtatsch Cortaccia (Michael Chiarrelo)

Kofl Alto Adige - Südtirol Sauvignon Blanc 2019

The pale yellow wine gives a hint of oak on the nose, along with citrus and stone fruit. The palate shows lemon, orange peel, apricot and that hint of oak. The grassy notes are kept to a minimum, which is fine with me, and leaves this as one of the tastier Sauvignons I have encountered. — 12 days ago

Better after letting it sit a couple days. Floral, mineral, slight pear sweetness. Pale yellow. Crisp and light. Nice wine to sip or to pair — 6 days ago

Riserva Abtei Alto Adige - Südtirol Lagrein 2017

Best price/quality Lagrein Riserva; only surpassed by their Klosteranger vineyard branded Lagrein riserva.
Dark purple/deep red. Blackberry, earthy, leather. Medium tannins. Excellent with red meat and veal.

Muri-Gries

Riserva Weingarten Klosteranger Lagrein 2015

One of the best expressions of Lagrein from Alto Adige from the Klosteranger vineyard of Muri Gries. Delicate yet complex with softer tannins than the avergage Lagrein. — 10 days ago
