Amador County Chenin Blanc 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 2. The 2023 Amador County pours a bright, deep straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart orchard fruit: peach, lemon, tangerine, white flowers, lanolin, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is waxy. Obviously young but I can’t help but feel that these Chenin’s from Tegan just keep getting better and better. Drink now through 2039. — 5 days ago

La Clarine Farm

"Sumu Kaw" Syrah 2008

Lovely foothills Syrah in a German-glass finished (it’s the closure/cork), at 17 years old still shows massive fruit, I’d say it’s mature, but very long, lingering finish, most amazing to me (for those of you who know Hank) is that this wine is 14.9% ABV!?!? — 5 months ago

Josephine + Mariposa Sierra Foothills Grenache Mourvedre 2012

Very good Sierra Foothills blend of Grenache (72%) and Mourvedre (28%), I believe the wine’s name refers to the vineyard sources of the Grenache and Mourvedre in this wine), good color, good depth and balance, solid and has held up well!! — 6 months ago
