Tasty but needs more bottle age. — 5 months ago
Really a pretty nice second wine from a great Bordeaux house (Montrose). In general I prefer St Julien to St Estephe but this is very good. Decanted 2 hours which I recommend. Inky in the glass. Some good secondary notes on the nose. Fruit is very there, but more acid to keep it balanced than I expected. Nice with a prime ribeye on the grill. — 2 years ago
Beautiful nose. Savory notes of salt, soy sauce, oregano, tomato bisque, earth and forest floor, mushroom, dusty, all the amazing things to expect from Saint Estephe. Medium acid still lingering, tobacco, hints of graphite , cedar, and classic cassis. Beautifully balanced and structured 13% — 2 months ago
“What Bordeaux should taste like.” Tashie. Great QPR estephe with a bit of bottle on it. Every sip you notice a different flavor but definitely has graphite, plums, herbs d Provence, and nice integrated tannins. — 6 months ago
Pagodes de Cos is a second wine of Château Cos d’Estournel. 3 hour Decant. Web article, Second Growth Bordeaux according to the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Located in St.-Estephe, the château includes 160 acres of vineyards planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Founded in the 18th century by Louis Gaspard d’Estournel, the château’s wines were so admired in the 19th century that they were in demand all over the world. The château was bought and sold many times during the late 19th and 20th centuries, and in 2000 it was acquired by Michel Reybier, under whose direction the château has continued its climb to excellence. Robert M. Parker Jr. has noted that Cos d’Estournel “has been particularly successful in difficult vintages” and “remains impeccably managed.” Some 200,000 bottles of the signature Cos d’Estournel are produced each year. — a year ago
2001 Lafon-Rochet
Saint Estephe
Inky black with cassis, black currant and blackberry. Black pepper and lavender with a whiff of smoke and graphite. Plum and vine charcoal give a softness to the tannin which is amazingly strong. Graphite shimmers through dark cocoa, cedar and pepper. Lovely and lively.

We clearly had better bottles on the 2 cases we polished over the years. But was still great claret. Those who think St Estephe is rustic need to try Montrose 1970. All about finesse and elegance. Thank you NY ! — 8 months ago
Smooth, dense and homogeneous mouth. Black fruits blackcurrant, blackberries, prunes, roasted mocha, vanilla, tobacco, undergrowth notes.
