On the palate flavors of cherry, tart strawberry and cranberry, with spice and gentle oak notes, very Rhône-like. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy character. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2020 pours a deep ruby purple with a near opaque core and a magenta rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with notes of Montmorency cherry, tart plums, licorice, purple flowers, cocoa, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Tasty stuff and a very nice pairing with braised short rib. Light footed and quite light bodied, yet with nice tension, beautifully integrated tannins and a juicy flow.
Dark fruit (black cherries, mulberries) and turned earth with a hint of tar and leather but also with a floral whiff adding freshness & lightness.
Juicy, with a certain effortlessness yet with quite some depth and a dark, rocky mineral core.
Somewhere between a good Morgon and a Baga - this is delish! And with just 13% alc, dangerously gluggable. — 2 months ago
