Oldest in the Penfolds portfolio, Wine includes fruit from Barossa, McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Clare and Wrattonbully vineyards, aged 12 months in American oak, 7% new. Deep Ruby color with aromas of dark berry fruits and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and cherry with cacao, espresso and vanilla oak. Vivid acidity, ripe fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and spice, very nice! Good value with aging potential. — 9 days ago
Light tannins, fruity, smooth — 7 months ago
Lighter body. Not overly fruity and mellower tannins. Pretty good. $15ish at Total Wine. Label at bottom also says Duckhorn portfolio, is a California cab blend. Decoy has lots of more specific vintage regions. — 6 months ago
2018 vintage.
39 % Merlot, 21 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 14 % Syrah, 12 % Malbec, 10 % Cabernet Franc and 4 % Petit Verdot. Always a secretive blend. You don’t know the varietal mix and percentages until you peel back the foil from the bottle neck. It changes every year.
Bright ruby red with aromas of red cherry, milk chocolate and cocoa spice.
Medium bodied with still fresh acidity.
Blackberry, red plum, dark cherry with a bit spicy finish
Blind Trust is the second label of Portfolio…the big brother. — 3 years ago
