1986. Phenomenal!!

Was better than the previous vintage I had

First bottle I had was close to perfect, had another last week that was corked.

Sweet oak/sweet fruit aromas and flavors up front, this shows some remaining structure w/very good acidity that keeps it fresh, should develop further, my wife’s favorite (older) Bordeaux!!

Beautiful mature redfruits, none of the tannic notes that many 1986s show, seems ready to drink, medium-long finish, very solid!!

Greg and Louis late evening visit. Asked for St Emilian and found this first. Surprisingly fresh tasting with good mellowed dark red fruits and balanced palate. Yum. Only bottle probably. Ancient Vineyard folded into chateau Quintus in Dillon portfolio in 2012. 40/20/20 Merlot Cab Franc Cab.

Forest floor, black truffle, earth, aged red fruits, silky finish. A treat! And some tannin left.

Lovely older St. Emilion, red fruits, resolves tannins, just lovely with our rib roast!!

Still quite youthful color and nice, fresh fruit, albeit with a green note (asparagus?) that ever so slightly detracts, but nicely balanced, soft tannins, expecting it to go well with the prime rib I just pulled off the grill!!
