I believe this was Aldoβs top Barolo back in the day(??), this is much more evolved than the 1982 Gaja Barbaresco, drying tannins and some just barely on the downside soy notes detract, as my brother always tells me, rarely are older wines great, but sometimes individual bottles are, still a very good 43-year-old Barolo!! β 6 months ago
A wonderful surprise. My expectations had been low for this 63 year old wine but it is lovely. Rich fruit with a nicely balanced acid backbone to give it some lift and vibrancy. A short finish, not surprising since the tannins have long since resolved. But the fruit is quite something after all this time. Nice. β a year ago
Starting to think this might be my favourite Barolo...up there with wines from Aldo Conterno and Rinaldi. Deep, concentrated and brooding with lots of cherries and balsamico notes. This is not a light and acidic Barolo at all but big and bold. Loved it! β a year ago

Right drinking window. Ripe black fruits, tar, rose petals, mint, sandalwood, kirsch wasser. Paired with ossobucco, saffran risotto and gremolata. β 2 days ago
