A wonderful find at Bistro A Vin in Charleston where the wine is thoughtfully procured. Good value at $40ish for 375ml . Perfect balance — 14 days ago
New producer for me. Loved how fun and generous this was. Ample and succulent gold and red fruit, rich mouthfeel, and a nice grace of some tertiary character from its age. 74 PN 26 CH — 3 days ago
Creamy texture, firm structure, persistent fine mousse, rich and incredibly concentrated on the palate with citrus, green apple, and flakey butter biscuit. Vibrant acidity perfectly balanced, all elements in sync. — 10 days ago
Les Chétillons consists of three aged parcels of vines, ranging from 45 to 70+ years of age which are situated in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil sur Oger. This legendary cuvée is known for its incredible combination of elegance, precision, brisk acidity and intense minerality, and it certainly does not fall short in this vintage as the 2010 is another sensational release from Rodolphe Péters. This gorgeous Blanc de Blancs immediately impresses with its stunning aromatics of fresh orchard fruits, lemon zest, orange blossoms, chalky minerals, crushed hazelnuts and toasted brioche which all take shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this fresh and vibrant, displaying a gorgeous fine texture, with striking elegance and purity. This goes on to impress with its outstanding balance and precision, as flavors of orchard fruits, white flowers and toasted brioche are underlined by lovely minerality and crisp acidity leading up to the dazzling finish. Simply put, this is an excellent vintage for Les Chétillons, and while this cuvée has the track record to age gracefully, the 2010 offers excellent upfront appeal and is drinking beautifully today. — a day ago
At the end of its life but still showed some incredible depth. The original notes of balsamic reduction and sweet pipe tobacco opened up to shine some light on the core of stewed strawberry and rhubarb. Almost completely secondary and tertiary at this point. Would’ve struggled to guess Pinot.
Went nicely with barley risotto. — 19 days ago
Dark raspberry and licorice on the taste finished by olive and some smoke. Compelling stuff and hard to just sip but a baby that will get better in time. — 5 days ago
Literally next to Chassagne by a few yards. One of the best value White burgs I’ve ever had. Just a stunning wine. Exuberant nose of Apple and pear with huge minerality. Wow. Amazingly clean and dripping with purity. Palate has laser like precision and wonderful acidity and almost a sweetness from the intense minerality and fruit. So complex and juicy with intense structure. What grace and elegance and density. An amazing wine and value. With air it gets gorgeously mineral and super refined with wonderful compactness and just stunningly well made. — a day ago
Mother Mary of God! It’s a stunning example of why I adore White Burgundy.
The nose reveals; Meyer lemon, Granny Smith apples, pineapple, lime zest, stone fruit, under ripe green melon, beeswax, honeysuckle, touch of caramel, fruit blossoms, river stones, cream for days, gentle white spice, powdery limestone & brilliant, soft gentle chalkiness, steely minerals, some flintiness with jasmine, mixed greens, yellow lilies and spring flowers.
The body is full, rich, lush and waxy. It’s simply stunning as it glides over the palate. It just doesn’t get much better in White Burgundy unless you spend seriously more money. Meyer lemon, Granny Smith apples, pineapple, lime zest, stone fruit, under ripe green melon, kiwi, bruised Bosc pear, beeswax, honeysuckle, vanillin notes, touch of caramel, fruit blossoms, river stones, cream for days, butter, gentle white spice with soft, warm heat, herbaceous, powdery limestone & brilliant, soft gentle chalkiness, steely minerals, some flintiness with jasmine, mixed greens, yellow lilies and spring flowers. The phat, round acidity is like a warm, gentle rain shower. The rich, lush, ripe, polished, well balanced finish is delicious and persists several minutes.
