Lovers Not Torreadors

Domaine Amiot Guy et Fils

Les Vergers Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Not bad, but I’d take the 17’ Leflaive Bourgogne any day over this. I liked how complex the nose was, and that it was textural and quite mineral, but I just couldn’t stand how sweet-fruited and oily the profile was. Very clearly a warm vintage Burg. Then again, Amiot does make more generous Chardonnay’s. Not for me, but I’d recommend this over any butter ball to lovers of “smash-mouth” wines. — 2 months ago

Sobre Lías Vilamartìn de Valdeorras Godello 2020

Lovely minerals. Clean and honest and harmonious if not overly complex. Great with seafood. 13.5%. Side note: Valdeorras/Godello is for Chablis lovers who don’t want to drink another iffy Chardonnay. — 2 years ago

Modri Pinot Noir

Not my fav of this wine but as always well made and unique. Little more oak in this vintage than is my preference but could see Cali Pinot lovers (@Scott Petrus) loving this. — 2 years ago

Kasuari

Petite Sirah 2010

Fancy label. Very avant-garde. Hella dark. Red Inky. Smells intoxicating. Plenty of juicy aroma. Also ink well. And leather in the sun. Flavors are pretty classic petite. Tongue coating with blackberries and fancy fruit flavored licorice. Tannic. Dry as can be. Like a cat’s tongue up in here. It’s not softened much and it’s 10 years in. Lovely for petite lovers. Aka the P.S. I love you crowd. — 4 years ago

Les Vercots Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Warm aroma is coming out from my glass. This has already had vintage taste. Matured fruits but not simple fruity taste. Deep and complexity. ~full body Pinot noir. Lots of tanning but rounding. Earthy. Highly balanced. OK for non wine lovers. 2015 @2519, xiaduo - , 221216-230505 — a year ago

Monticello Vineyards (Corley Family)

Monticello Vineyards Estate Grown Merlot Merlot 2015

Deep plum in the glass with a wide brim. The nose is a bit shy upon opening with just a bit of blueberry and soil at first. With a nice long decant it starts to blossom. Raspberry jam and cherry soda with a hint of vanilla. There’s some figs and herbs with a streak of dark chocolate to boot.

Dare I say it? A Merlot for Cab lovers. But not in the bad way. It’s smooth and warmly pleasant Merlot that really takes the edge off of being a customary Big and Bold Napa red. Smooth and mellow and the alcohol never becomes a problem. The palate is the star here with such lively, lovely fruit along with oak and earthy elements. A definite winner.

Domaine des Ouled Thaleb

Tandem Syrah du Maroc 2018

Third tasting in a year and a half. With three years of aging, wine finally finds its balance. It need good ventilation of at least two hours. After that we have a beautiful nose, quite "natural" with very marked floral and fruity notes. The mouth is silky, not or little filtered. Alain Graillot style is well recognized with great purity. The body and finish are beautifully chiselled, layering the tasting of many aromatic nuances. Author's wine to discover absolutely for syrah lovers.

Red Blend 2016

Roussillon trip #1
Grenache/Syrah blend, biodynamic style. Dark dress still young and lively. Cuvée with a medium plus body, with beautiful spicy and roasted notes that perfectly serve a fruity (black and red) still lively and juicy. It is both easy and refined. Refreshed a little, the 15 degrees are absolutely not felt. A wine that can please classic mouths as well as lovers of natural wines.

Assemblages Grenache/Syrah style biodynamique, naturel.

Massa Vecchia

Maremma Toscana Rosato Rosé Blend 2019

It needs time to open up
After a while it really reminds of a Burgundy
It has class to sell
Less funky than the 2018, but still very fleshy and delicious
It might be that the winemaking hands are changed, but not the beauty of the wine.
Again not a rose for the lovers of a classic Provence crisp rose, more towards being a red i reckon
This wine i am sure can age quite well for few years. It is definitely something you at least wanna try once, but i would not be surprised if you get hooked.
Cheers

Sancerre Rouge Pinot Noir 2014

Transparent wine red. Aroma includes mineral nuance, plum. It has already entered into next to fresh. Violet. Elegant! Comfortable tanning. Later on, acidic, mineral came out. Aroma is changing a lot. Not party wine, but for wine lovers. I would like to pair early age one with Japanese cuisine. 2014 @1100, Kping, 200903-200905 — 4 years ago
