Les Dentelles Syrah Grenache 2017

Quite intriguing, not a style of winemaking I reach for often, but an example of it done well. Minimal extraction and no SO2 with the allure and charm this has can be quite difficult. It’s a little skanky upon first opening, but after a night in the bottle it cleaned up considerably, the brett and VA melted into the wine a little more and its muddled melange of red fruit and earth became apparent. Crushed rainer cherry, decaying strawberries, rhubarb compote, white pepper, sweaty brett. I like blurring the lines between light red and rosé, and the wine worked well with roast chicken w/ spices and poblano mashers night one and fared well with tomato/avocado salad and grilled sardines the next night. La Graviere Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2016

This wine is good — zippy, racy, snappy, salty, acid-driven, mouthwatering, creamy but fresh, expressive and concentrated, clean, pithy-fleshy fruit balance. Salty pineapples, lemongrass and green peppercorn, lime skins, lemonheads/preserved lemons, oysters. Reminds me of Envinate’s Benje and Palo Blanco. Nice aldehydes without being overly yeasty and nutty. Had with marinated anchovy cacio e pepe, zucchini flowers and orange zest. Killer pairing. — 9 days ago

Small unknown Rhône producer.

Maybe the most delicious dry wine I’ve ever had. That does not mean the best. It’s very good. But the most delicious.

Nose is balanced tropical fruit and some floral elements. Nice. As it opens (45 minutes) tropical fruit perfume. Pure Amazon jungle.

The palate is sick. The most perfect elegant tropical fruit cocktail ever. A touch of honey. Not overblown. Just perfect. You could drink an entire bottle in about 5 minutes. So good. Juicy and delicious. Not super mineral. Lovely texture. Announces its presence in a clear yet unobtrusive way. Like an English butler.

Finish is lovely tropical fruit. Long. Juicy. Echoes of large stone minerality. Maybe some nuttiness.
