Nose - wet clay pot, rose petals, leather, crayons . Main flavors - apricots, nectarines and plum and unripe cherry. Mid taste is sweeter and then finishes dry but not too dry. Very very nice! — 7 months ago
Medium Ruby with aromas red fruits, black tea and ample floral spice, aged in 20% new French oak for about 10 months. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and plum with notes of tobacco, cedar, black pepper, tea and vanilla spice. Fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and wet stone character. Very Nice! Aging well! — 9 months ago
What a special treat. First time trying a post WWII 1949 Bordeaux. Color is a cloudy tawny port. Nose - red fruit, currants, wet musky soil, herbaceous and a hint of mint. Taste - ripen plum-strawberry, dried herbs, old worn leather and baking spice with a short medium finish. Making history in my wine tasting experience. — a month ago
Muscadet doesn’t get much better than this. Lemon zest, tart green apple, tons of wet rock, screaming acidity. So good. — 8 months ago
Inky fruit purple garnet. To organic, wet forest floor. Great minerals and river stones. — 3 months ago
Incredible river rocks, wet forest bark and purple berries. — 3 months ago
2nd Ribcap wine. Delicious!
2006 followed the grand 2005 vintage. It was overpriced based on 2005 & critically reviewed as a difficult vintage. I can tell you 06 was overpriced, but still a good to very good vintage depending on the region & producer.
The fruits are classic Bordeaux…nicely ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, very dark cherries, black plum, plum, mix of strawberries & red cherries. Wet, volcanic clay, lead pencil for days, slightly, dry tobacco, dark spices, mix of mostly dry & fresh herbs, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon & vanillin, volcanic ash, used leather, sandalwood to cedar, forest floor w/ dry leaves, dry river stone, steeped, dark fruit tea, withering, slightly candied; dark, red florals with hints of violets, round, fresh, river stream acidy, a plush, round, elegant, nicely; tensioned, structured, balanced and elegant polished finish that last 90 seconds. — 5 months ago
+2 hour decant(little fine/cloudy sediment). A brooding dark magenta color. On the nose: very aromatic notes..lots of blackberry, floral, pencil lead, wet forest floor, sweet oak. Taste: blackberry, cassis, bitter chocolate, herbs, pepper and a gravelly/new leather long finish with some still there kickin tannins. YUM! Gonna give my next bottle a few more years for a better score. — 10 months ago

I’ve enjoyed several wines now from the 2021 Mosel vintage, a vintage that I personally adore for its classicism, and its departure from the current trend of warm, dry and short growing seasons in the region. J. J. Prüm’s WSU Spätlese from this overlooked vintage is an absolutely sensational young riesling that, for me, represents a benchmark of what this region (and winery) can produce.
The nose is fresh, clear, like an alpine stream, truly elevating and disarmingly pure scented. A meadow of flowers, freshly squeezed lime, wet stones, petrichor. It is utterly pristine on the palate: sea salt, a medley of tropical fruit slightly underripe, fresh lime, hazelnuts, flecks of lavender. Enormous presence, but huge acidity from this cold, long growing season which, really, is how these wines were always made. A monumental finish that persists for almost a minute.
This is up there with the greatest Mosel wines I’ve ever enjoyed. I’m pretty chuffed to have bought this wine and most of their range in multiple formats in 2021, and I’ll hold on to those for the next forty years! — 19 days ago
