Another rendition of one of my favorite wines, a most sensual and erotic wine. An alluring deep salmon rose color in the glass with nice effervescence of small bubbles. The nose immediately shows as sweet, sweeter than I would expect but that soon dissipates. Strawberries up front with red cherries and a touch of apple. Crushed herbs and mild spice after some time. There’s a floral aspect here that’s outstanding, as well.
So many rosé champagnes are so similar in ambition and execution that it’s nice to find something that’s a marked step above. 90/10 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay and disgorged in October of 2019 with a dosage of 9 g/l. Nervy and thrilling, it’s an exciting champagne that doesn’t skimp on power. Good balance and structure with a vinous nature. Playful and teasing, without a trace of austerity.
Pure sex in the mouth with candied raspberries and more wild strawberries. Blood orange, grapefruit, and passion for days. Peaches, melons, and romance. A little chalk, a little lust. One of my favorites, year in year out. — 8 days ago
Organic grapes! Not too fancy looking label. Dark as blood. Smells like fresh cut wood, a musty library and deep red-purple plum sauce. Flavors are balanced out with a bittersweet tannic edge to match the berry and lighter roast coffee flavors. Also has a fresh chocolate mint leaves meets fennel fronds thing in there. Easy drinking, but dense enough to drink with aged cheddar cheeses. This is a great deal, and example of the type of blend I love. And the icing on the carrot cake is the organic grapes. — 8 days ago
This is Dutchman's Progression 3. This is a dark wine, with a nose to match. Blackberry, black plum, black pepper, leather - it is a fairly brawny aroma package. The palate follows suit, with dark fruit and a savory angle to beat all savory angles. Tannins are quite firm and the wine could probably benefit from an hour or two to breathe. The finish is lengthy and savory. — 6 days ago
This bold wine is quite dark in the glass and it offers up a nose of black raspberries, cedar, clove, vanilla and a hint of mint. On the palate, it’s brawny. Big notes of dark fruit mingle with those oak spices in a way that’s both fruity and savory. The tannic structure is toothy, so this wine wants a steak. — 3 days ago
It is time for a tasty Cabernet for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with a great mouthfeel.
Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, Indian spices, chocolates, tobacco, peppercorn, coffee, light cola and pencil lead.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This 6 year old from the great 2016 vintage is showing great complexity now. A gorgeous wine that will age nicely in the next 20 years.
Delicious right out of the bottle and better with airtime.
I had it a year ago, and it was delicious then, but now it is so much better. What a wonderful surprise.
Rich, opulent, spicy and fruit forward.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. A great sipping wine too.
A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
15.2% alcohol by volume.

N: smashed strawberries, tobacco, licorice, mascarello cherries, dirt,
P: Nice tannic grip, Black cherries, lots of earth, a buoyant frame, definitely concrete and old fourdes. I’m so glad to have found this. As Louis/Dressner says, if you know all the grapes they grow, you’re probably a master of wine. — a day ago
Equal blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunière. Bright yellow color with hints of green. Bright aromas of lemon, white flowers, freshly baked white bread and red berries. Elegant pallet is full of lemon and red berry flavors. Hint of minerality on the finish. Not overly “bready,” so it is quite refreshing and a good stand alone bubbly. Fresh and clean with great balance. I drank this one from a Pouron. Thank you Kasey and Petey! — 2 days ago
Another outstanding vintage of this classic Valpo! Dark purple color. Busy nose and pallet of fresh and dried fruits including currants, dates, prunes and a hint of pomegranate seeds. Big, and intensely concentrated but the tannins are surprisingly soft. Long and bold finish. A fruit forward wine lover’s dream wine. Thank You Kasey and Petey. — 2 days ago
Nose of dark fruits like blackberries, vanilla, milky chocolate, a bit tobacco leaves, and some more cherry flavors. Taste follows the nose with good fruity notes plus a bit oaky feeling. Sweet, mouthful, low tannins, and a bit peppery. Aftertaste is also clean with some more grapes and bitter note. Consider the price, quite amazing. — a day ago
Been waiting for years to get back to London and bring this home as it’s only available at Berry Bros. & Rudd as far as I know. Remarkable mineral and acidic cut for a southern French white, like a Loire chenin but with a bit more heft and roundness. Green mango, bitter grapefruit, honey, pear, smoke and spice on the finish. Worth checking a bag for! — 6 days ago
