I’m sitting here in my Camper after a wine tasting at Dautel (Württemberg, Top wines), sipping this Pfälzer GG (great body and a certain opulence—the wine is top-notch, a real Pfälzer Riesling spectacle) and mulling over the plans for my bike tour along the Baden Wine Route—a crazy combination. Medium lemon yellow . Quite discreet at first , with some lightly honied citrus , ripe apple , touch of petrol and white flowers . On the palate this is quite high in acidity , quite mineral and fresh on the palate , slate , citrus peel , ripe apple , an a light saline , honied hint . Good extract and decent length . Dry and very classic tasting Riesling. Wet stone, lime, honeysuckle, green apple, green pear, flint, and the faintest hint of petrol. Clean with high acidity, medium alcohol, light body and a terrific compliment to food. I had it with tuna tartare and it was a knockout. Terrific value. — 3 years ago

Unsurprisingly warm & rich (warm vintage) and layered with quite some weight & substance and a dense, oily texture. Cutting through this, and beautifully balancing it all out, comes bright, mineral acidity. Ripe peach & apricot, baked lemons, a dollop of honey, a smoky note towards the finish.
