As this opens it’s definitely a graphite blackberry melange kind of thing. Good grip. Quite focused. Cerebral in a sense. Like this silky almost lilac extract on the palate.
If I had this blind I’d guess st jo on the nose and cote rotie on the palate.

On the palate flavors of blackberry, currents and cacao with notes of violets, oak and spice. It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
On the nose cooked cherries, red currants, plums, oak, tobacco, licorice, vanilla, earth, light vegetables, metals, Mediterranean spices, chocolates and black pepper.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long long legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, sweet strawberries, cooked cherries, plums, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco leaf, spices, cocoa, earth and peppercorn.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Merlot-based Bordeaux is rich, spicy and interesting, with a tangy finish. A little off balance at this point.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime (2 hours).
I had this vintage a couple of years ago, and it feels like it is in its dumb phase. Still young, but already enjoyable.
This 5-year-old from the great 2016 vintage, would age nicely in the next 15 years.

Tasted blind, 4 wines, 3 varietals. The 3 of us had the same ranking in terms if the wines, this one came in no 1 for all of us. Expressive typical Chard nose of lemon, touch of butter, slight oak but nothing disturbing, nice acidity, tense and saline, mineral, just enough roundness to make it a good balance, excellent and great level for a St-Romain. 90-91
Dégustation à l’aveugle, 4 vins pour 3 cépages afin de trouver le cépage. Tout le monde a eu le même classement sur les 4 vins, No 1 pour les 3 dégustateurs. People say this was done with lots of Merlot. Maybe. To us it tastes much more like Cabernet. Starting to drink well, with mostly primary black fruit notes, hint of secondary notes, very fresh and balanced, with all the soil signature of St Estephe. Has shed most of the year’s tannins and is civilized and pleasurable drinking now but really no rush. Cool stuff done the old fashion way. — 12 days ago
Pop and pour, notes from 2 hrs open. On the nose: soft honey, lemon oil, dark earth and slate. tangy notes, fantastic intensity. On the palate: excellent acidity, wet stone, lemon oil, soft vanilla custard. Good density, but I feel like the 17 was better on that count.
