Diversity Of Terroir

Alexana

Terroir Series Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Ruby color with aromas of dark red fruits, forest floor notes and herb spice, barrel-aged 10 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with leather, pepper, tea and herb spice. Fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and earthy character. Nice! — 23 days ago

Château Le Puy

Expression Originale Du Terroir Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

This fell somewhere between an old Burgundy and an even older new world Syrah (made me think of a old Alban Edna). Stinky but alluring nose, so much going on I couldn’t really capture it all. My head was spinning a bit (last wine of night but it was exceptional, new for me).
Mon Lapin (and Vanya if she’s there…) essential for any wino/foodie visit to Montreal!

Whoa…never had Le Puy with that much age before. But I imagine it being an experience similar as you described.

It was pretty special, wish I had tasted a bit earlier in the incredible evening!

Château Le Puy

Barthélemy Expression Originale de Terroir Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

My first cult rosé. Hefty from all perspectives: eye, nose and palate. Flourishing, strawberry, cherry, some cinnamon and pepper as well. On the palate it drinks more like a light red than a rosé with lots of ripe strawberries and maraschino cherries but good acidic balance and even some tannins with a licorice finish. Even needed a good hr to open up. Pleasant mind bender for sure. Cheers. — 21 days ago

Uhlen R Grosse Lage Terroir Rothlay Riesling 2014

Hell yea! Just that perfect Riesling balance of sugars that have relaxed in the bottle, with a dry clear structure, and a hint of petrol / apricot funk. And just right with some spicy Sichuan 🌶 — 5 months ago

Patrick Piuze

Terroir de Chichée Chablis Chardonnay 2021

Nice Chablis from a producer I always enjoy…but honestly needs some time. Quite full and intense right now - bit of a smack in the face with lemon and minerality. Suggest food if drinking now. — 8 months ago

I have about the full gamut of these baby cru's from Piuze, agreed they want more time to come together, maybe 2024-25 will be the zone.

Henri Bourgeois

Terroir De Silex Sancerre d'Antan Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Medium golden color. Expressive aromas of lime, lemon and flint. The complex palate features grapefruit, almond and roasted coconut. Lovely mineral note on the finish. Nice creamy texture. Quite concentrated, plush and beautifully balanced. Outstanding! Appreciate you sharing this wine, Kase! — 2 months ago

Guy Farge

Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2015

Nose: graphite

Palate: very bright. Young. Very fresh crunchy cherries.

As this opens this silky graphite early season cherry thing. Very distinctive.

I think this could be much better in 3 years in a sort of Burgundian sense. Very elegant for. St Joseph. Very red fruited.

Domaine Belluard

Terroir du Mont-Blanc Mondeuse 2014

Still lots of exuberant red and purple fruit, white pepper, woodsy tones, violets, some animal and herbaceous highlights. Continue to love following this wine as it ages. Structurally seems in a great place, not sure how much it will improve — 9 months ago
