A bit dry, then sweet. Black fruits. Pepper. Complexity. Concentrated, fruity and spicy. It would be good to keep it for long. Domaine les Grands Bois Rasteau Cuvee Marc 16 @3300, Umem JH, 231223-240126 — 5 months ago

Bloody, iron rich Grenache nose, sous-bois, heading for the grave but there’s still life in the old* bottle. Perfect cork,
I wonder if they were ever redone. Came from a collector, no way to tell. (Well, I could contact the winery) I digress.
Coffee and bark around the edges, a bit of heat on the palate but not distracting.
The acidity is on point. There’s some of deep orange as well.
Svelte for a CdP. Terrific juice

Presented double-blind at Tasting Group. The wine pours a pretty ruby color with a transparent core and maybe some slight rim variation. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. No obvious signs of sediment. On the nose, developing with strawberries, raspberries, mushrooms, sous bois and soft baking spices. Delicate. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. Finish is medium+. Lovely and quite elegant. I called Bourgogne Rouge from a great producer but it was 2012 Raphet “Clos Vougeot”. Oooop. Drinking well now with some secondary characteristics just beginning to show. Drink through 2032.

Wine #1000! — 9 months ago
Ok. Not fruity like expected which was good but a lot of tobacco and leather. Got better as it opened but didn’t like enough to get again. Kurt wine. — 10 months ago
Deep prune almost cheesy, olive, medium light tannins long finish — 5 months ago
Sickly sweet cherry plum syrup on the nose with notes of vanilla and cloves. Luscious mouthfeel. Liquid smoke and chambord, grilled plums, and raspberry jam on the palate. Mild tannins. Long luxurious finish. The alcohol level is just too high. — 9 months ago

Semi transparent Ruby red. Aromatics of dried rose petals and violets with Sous Bois. Profound flavour intensity with savoury red cherry. Burgundian overtones. The Langtons Classification adopted Main Ridge as a top Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir many years ago - almost the original. Oak is in balance and doesn’t intrude. A very good Pinot, and probably a point or two behind their premium Cuvée, The Half Acre. — 17 days ago
