Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.
The Fantesca property on Spring Mtn is gorgeous, and their tasting room at the winery is stunning. Really enjoyed getting to try more of their wines.
Our visit ended with our wonderful hostess giving us a bottle of champagne to take to dinner. A very enjoyable and easy drinking rosé that has a little bit of all your looking for...strawberries, gummy red fruits, chalk, limestone, toasted scone with black cherry spread a touch of sweetness toward the finish. A perfect pairing with Bistro Jeanty’s puff pastry topped tomato soup! One of our favorite restaurants in the valley! — a day ago
Out of magnum. Medium gold and notably darker than the 96 Raveneau I had the previous night. Earthy sweet nose. Notes of apricot, tan spice, a little ginger. Rich in the mouth. Sneaky acidity. Gave it lots of air. This was a tad bit off in terms of its presence and performance, but I wouldn’t call it premox given its 24 year old age. — 8 days ago
Perfect with our meal at the Ale House! — 8 days ago
Berries and oaky. Nice finish. Very good cab. Visited vineyard and peach orchard. The owners are lovely people. — 4 days ago
A gorgeous nose. All oyster shells, limestone, salinity, hints of lime, greengages, peter. Very poised, saline and cool-blooded. On the palate it is super sophisticated. Very precise floral notes. Rockpool, mellow citrus with super fine balancing acidity. This is deep and profound but pretty light on its feet. A beautiful calm vintage. — 7 days ago
A really big and tropical nose. Loads of zesty and punchy citrus with hints of pineapple and passion fruit. Explosive mid palate of dense and tense fruit with great acidity. Very big and action-packed for a 2013. A long way ahead and a lot of fun — a day ago
