Strolled into Trader Joe’s; the shelf was stocked with this. Couldn’t believe it. Picked up another half case. This is a phenomenal bordeaux and one of the best QPRs around. Haven’t tasted in a year and it’s just as memorable. Lots of great mushroom and sweaty gym socks with a dusty, tannic finish. Perfect example of a phenomenal wine at sub-$20 that drinks at 3-4x the price. — 12 days ago
First Valmur at Dampt since maybe 2015. Love this Grand Cru. Gorgeously nuanced nose with sea air, salt, pear and apple fruit that is so delicate and covered by intense minerals. So many salty seashells. Complex and concentrated but so so elegant and has tangy, rich complexity on the finish. Amazing fruit set on the palate when you think it’s over but it really just begins. Superbly complex with a mineral explosion and such amazing length and sap. So long. Superb wine that is at once playful and at once very serious. — 4 days ago
Medium straw gold. Viscous and heavy. Awesome aged Raveneau nose from the start. Notes of honeyed tan spice, seashells, wet stone, apricot and some light tan dusty clay. Rich in the mouth. Acidity is in the background, even after 4 hours of air. A bit thin in the mid palate but I’m splitting hairs to find flaws. Great stuff. — 6 days ago
Real, real good. Very smooth, not very tannic, slightly fruity. — 11 hours ago
Light golden hue. Nose offers white flowers, blanched almonds, tart apricot, elderflower, freshly baked baguette. Honeysuckle and fresh apple on the palate. Nicely balanced. Dry. Rich and creamy. Happy Thanksgiving to my Delectable friends!

Fully mature, this delicious Riesling’s nose features honey, dried apricot, petrol-like minerality, and gravelly earth. Very sensual. Soft, round, and mouthfilling, it’s slightly sweet and has a darker personality than one would expect from a Riesling. Long, lip-smacking finish. The acids are soft, but it still seems balanced, albeit on the voluptuous side. — 9 days ago
I’m not as passionate about beer as I once was, and my wife is the resident beer nerd in our house, but there’s no denying the sheer power and complexity of this Imperial Stout. Aged in once-used maple syrup barrels, this was a treat for sure. 11%+ abv, served at cellar temp. — 15 days ago
A nice Beaujolais from a vintage that I don’t usually love compared to 2014/2016. Definitely better with an hour or so in a decanter to let the tannins integrate a bit more. Dark purple in the glass - darker than expected. Nice cherry aromas. Still could resolve a bit more on the finish but with a slight chill is nice. — 9 days ago
It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here is a nice one from Bordeaux.
Showing red and blue fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, tobacco and coffee.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very nice Merlot based red wine from Bordeaux. Still young and needs another 5 years to mature properly.
Still unbalanced and better with food. A Good quality wine, nice and engaging.
Needs a few hours to open up properly.
Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.
A blend of 80% Merlot and the rest are Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
14% alcohol by volume.
