Château De Pommard

Domaine Billard-Gonnet

Chaponnières Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

Lighter medium body over pale burgundy color, with purple hues deeply embedded within. Took a while to open up, but once the nose started opening up the ripe red fruit, crunchy acidity and notes of bark, plum, leeks, and cracked pepper started to show. The palate is deep and old world, with hints of earth, smoke, even some BBQ sauce. Main palate is cranberry, tart cherry, and dark plum, with a LOT of energy and life, with some bramble, and really, this could age for another 40 years or more easy. — 6 days ago

Pommard Pinot Noir 2015

“I see everyone is having a productive morning... Tip of the spear. Edge of the knife... Crack of my ass!" Well this sums it up. Quite stinky at first. Oxidized and pale. But give it 3 hours and this wine blows your socks off. Alas at its peak drink now. If you want to learn more read previous notes. This is one of the best Burghs out there. — 19 days ago

Domaine de Courcel

Grand Clos des Épenots Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022

Ruby colored with blueberry aromas. Still young. Slight tannins and nice acidity. An herbal component with a medium finish. Very nice with our King Salmon and Brussel Sprouts. — 2 months ago

Clos de la Commaraine Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

Last tried in 2021. Still a ton of tannins left. A ton really. They might have overdone it. Better showing than the Corton-Pouget tonight!!!! Stinky nose. I am not convinced. — a month ago

Comte Armand

Clos des Epeneaux Monopole Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Quite a deep colour , deep garnet , with a medium wide garnet rim . Needs time to open , quite discreet but quite deep and dark on the nose , with some blackberry tinged , liquorice , dark cherry , earthy sous bois . This opens up after a while to show more floral influences, lighter , redder fruits . On the palate this is quite dense , with a blackberry , dark cherry hint , earthy , mineral with quite grippy tannins . Good volume and density . Balanced acidity and earthy , mineral tinged finish. This needs time and improved quite a lot with air but really needs a few more years in the cellar , maybe come back in 5 years and will last well at least another 10. Promising . — a month ago
