2018 vintage. Small production of pure Malbec by one of Blaye's top producers, Château Bel-Air La Royère. Deep purplish colour. Intense perfume with the typical Malbec violets much more pronounced than in the 2017. Layers of ripe black fruit, fresh acidity and a long spicy finish. A showcase for the potential of Malbec in Blaye (and Bourg). Highly recommended if you are lucky enough to find a bottle. — 21 days ago
2010 vintage. Another golden oldie from Blaye. Solid deep red colour with orange rim. Cedar and strawberry. Good concentration and structure, drinking perfectly now but will hold in a good cellar. Good length with some spiciness. Very good indeed and terrific value. — 23 days ago
— 6 days ago
"Je Suis" is a special selection from Château Gros Moulin in Côtes de Bourg. Atypical blend for the region with 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. 2014 vintage. Beautiful nose ripe dark cherries, blackberries, flowers and cedar. Profound and elegant. The 100% new oak for 24 months is perfectly integrated. Very attractive already, but this will age gracefully for at least 10 to 20 years. Excellent. — a month ago
This was the mystery wine at the Downs Club Committee dinner on Wednesday night and I was a long way from picking it. I don’t want this to sound snooty but I rarely drink Cotes de Bordeaux and on this showing I should be. Merlot dominant medium bodied with red fruits, a touch of tobacco and grainy tannins. Incredible QPR - can be bought for $30 in Australia. — 6 days ago

2018 vintage. Intriguingly the back label states 75% Sauvignon doré (never heard of that so will have to do some research) and 25% Sauvignon Gris. Vinified and aged in wood (with 25% new barriques). Aromatic, with bright fruit and perfectly integrated oak. Great value at 9,5 euros. — 13 days ago
