This is a steal of a deal. Balanced acidity. Honey meets white flowers and grassy gooseberry. — 10 days ago
100% Sauvignon. Star bright straw gold. Inviting nose of green apples and honeysuckle. Firm acidity leads the medium palate which yields green apple, citrus rind, and a touch of birch. Moderately lingering, slightly stony finish. Sauvignon done Bordeaux style with body and brightness that makes a perfect pair for seafood, roasted poultry, or Asian cuisine. Drink now through 2024. — 3 days ago
2015 vintage. 100% biodynamically farmed Sauvignon blanc made by young Blaye producer Jessica Aubert. This wine was meant to be drunk young, but actually a nice surprise at almost 6 years old. Light golden colour. Fine honeyed and floral nose with impressions of dried pineapple. Sweet exotic fruit with a certain complexity and nice spicy length. Very nice if you are into older whites. — 14 days ago
Dit is voorlopig de laatste die we openen. 3u luchten is nodig om dit aantrekkelijk te maken. Het bal opent met kersenyoghurt in de neus. That’s a first. — 7 hours ago
Blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Interesting wine based on the fact that age has really mellowed it. Nose features violets, asphalt, Forrest Floor with a note of dark cherry/cassis fruit. Dark berry fruit is muted on the pallet with hints of dark chocolate. Soft tannins on the medium finish. Austere. — 6 days ago
100% dry Semillon from Barsac. Coming from one of the great Sauternes houses, this has to be magnificent right? Of course it is. Pale lemon in the glass with a floral perfumed nose. Lemon zest, lychee, and green apple get the party started with pears and honeysuckle coming to play. The honey, the straw, the brioche bread, all so lovely and so deep. Such an exciting, ethereal nose.
Lovely is the word of the day here. This is a mood invoking wine. Soft but rich. Evocative yet subtle. The acidity is crisp and the mouthfeel silky. The palate displays nice orchard fruits and a touch of stone minerality. Very saline, very correct, and magnificently pure. Spring in a bottle. A very unique, fun wine and I cannot get enough. — 16 days ago
Occasionally, I gamble on 2nd, 3rd wines or even a Bordeaux Superior in grand Bordeaux vintages. Sometimes you find wines that out shine their price point. This is a bit less than I hoped for, yet still a nice wine at this age.
The Roasted, Rosemary Potatoes were best with Burgundy and the AB Ribcover best with the Bordeaux.
Always have two wines for your entree & sides . It’s always paid dividends for us.
She is; ripe w/ dark currants & earthy dirty. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, poached strawberries, raspberries, dry cranberries, Australian blue fruits, dry, crushed rocks, limestone, slightly moist clay, soft, dry tobacco, soft leather, dark, rich earth, leaves, dry river stones, black licorice core, fresh herbs-sage, saddlewood, graphite, brown volcanics, melted brown sugar, dark spices w/ heat nutmeg, cinnamon, vanillin, melted caramel, mocha powder, fresh; red, dark, blue & purple florals. The acidity marries the vintage. The finish is; ripe, rich, elegant, herbaceousness, earthy and spice driven on the long set. — 20 hours ago
It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of cherries, sweet strawberries, black currant, plums, earth, oak, barnyard, vegetables, spices, wet leaves and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with strawberries, raspberries, plums, cherries, light oak, spices, earth, vegetables, bitter herbs, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, black pepper and coffee.
Short finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Merlot based blend from Bordeaux. Balanced and easy drinking with a soft mouthfeel. Already showing nice complexity.
Needs time to open up. I gave it two hours. A little stinky, but some like that too.
Would be interesting to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolves.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. Paired very nicely with the wild mushroom Brie cheese from the Netherlands.
A blend of 71% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
